  • Patent number: 9356956
Abstract: Technologies are provided for preventing abuse of software-defined datacenter networks. In some examples, an SDN abuse prevention module within a control layer of an SDN may use graph analysis rules and monitor network paths over time to detect and prevent abusive network conformation change command series. Instance-generated network paths may be analyzed to determine if the paths attempt to repeatedly traverse one or more sensitive network paths. If so, the paths may be implemented or denied based on, among other things, the time scale within which they attempt to repeatedly traverse the sensitive network paths.

  • Publication number: 20160142174
Abstract: Technologies related to mobile device prevention of contactless card attacks are generally described. In some examples, a mobile computing device may monitor for electromagnetic signals at frequencies used for short range communications with contactless cards. Detection of such electromagnetic signals by the mobile computing device may indicate an attack attempt on a proximal contactless card. In response to detection of such electromagnetic signals, the mobile computing device may automatically generate a disruption signal effective to disrupt communications between contactless card readers and any proximal contactless cards, to thereby foil the attack before sensitive contactless card data is stolen.

  • Patent number: 9336217
Abstract: Technologies are generally provided for conveying tree and index needs of a database by collecting and forwarding a statistically representative set of data requests so that a new datacenter can use its existing auto-learning and adjustment techniques to create local indices before receiving its first real or live requests. In some examples, requests at an origin datacenter may be collected to provide a small population of queries that are representative of a larger population of queries. Filters anonymizers may be employed to adhere to data sharing rules and restrictions while still allowing a new datacenter to build indices and test performance. Thus, the new datacenter may be trained asynchronously from another site and without actual data changing hands. Training and testing of destination database services may be completed before committing to customer migration.

  • Publication number: 20160110356
Abstract: Technologies are generally described to construct a hash table for utilization in a recognition of a target object in an image. According to some examples, a system to serve topical image recognition hash tables to user devices may construct a lookup hash table union from disjoint hash tables of particular objects. For example, a server may receive a request for a category or list of items, interpret which objects to send, and compose a joined image hash lookup table from the disjoint objects that match the target set. In other examples, the category information may be expanded into an object list and hash collections associated with the object list may be retrieved.

  • Patent number: 9318192
Abstract: Technologies are generally described herein for managing heat within a phase change memory (PCM) structure utilizing electrocaloric effect materials. Some example PCM structures may include an electrocaloric effect material layer thermally coupled to an array of PCM cells. The electrocaloric effect material layer may be segmented so that activation of each segment is coordinated with a subset of the PCM cells within the array. While excess heat emanates from a PCM cell during memory operations, a corresponding electrocaloric effect material segment may be activated to decrease the thermal resistance of the electrocaloric effect material, which transfers the excess heat away from the neighboring PCM cells.

  • Patent number: 9306963
Abstract: Technologies are generally described to implement intrusion detection based on smart power background. In some examples, upon detection of an attempt to access a resource, a power line ambiance may be determined at a location of a device on which the attempt to access the resource is executed. The power line ambiance may be based on a connection of the device and/or one or more other devices at the location to a power line. The captured/received power profiles may identify device signatures enabling generation of a digest of the location. An intrusion detection system (IDS), may receive the digest of the location and compare the digest to previous digests associated with an authorized client of the resource to evaluate an authenticity of the attempt. If the authenticity of the attempt is suspicious, the IDS may elevate security by employing one or more verification levels and/or one or more authentication techniques.
