  • Patent number: 6599146
Abstract: A ZIF socket (1) comprises a base (10), a sliding cover (20) and an actuating lever (30). The actuating lever is substantially L-shaped and includes a handle (34) and a driving arm (32) extending perpendicularly from a joining portion (35) of the handle. The driving arm comprises an elongate pivot (321), a cam portion (33) extending forwardly from the pivot and a large-dimensioned portion (36) formed at one end of the pivot proximate to the joining portion. The joining portion has enough strength for resisting breakage and damage. When an excessive force is exerted on the handle of the actuating lever, or even after repeated actuation of the actuating lever, the joining portion of the actuating lever will not be damaged. Thus, the actuating lever may have a longer life than the conventional design and makes the ZIF socket work more reliably.

  • Publication number: 20030119295
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a wafer is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing a substrate on which a number of semiconductor devices are formed and covered with a passivation layer; (b) exposing a number of contact pads in connection with the semiconductor devices by etching a portion of the passivation layer which are corresponding to the contact pads; and (c) cleaning the contact pads by soaking the substrate into a nitric acid solution and than rinsing. The concentration of the nitric acid solution can be about in the range between 0.01 vol. % and 30 vol. % and preferably about in the range between 1 vol. % and 10 vol. %. Thus, defects on wafers are greatly reduced with causing damages.

Each terminal includes a base section retained in each cell and a tail extending and beyond the housing for being soldered to the circuit board. Two beams extend from the base section, substantially opposite to the tail. Each beam forms a spring arm. The spring arms are opposite to and spaced from each other for engaging the corresponding pin leg therebetween. The beams are symmetric with respect to an imaginary plane that is normal to the base section and coincident with the moving direction.

  • Patent number: 6479372
Abstract: A method for forming a hydrophilic surface on a silicon substrate during cleaning step after well implantation comprises providing a silicon substrate and an insulating layer is deposited thereon for mask alignment requirement. A photoresist layer is formed on the insulating layer and then a well pattern is transferred into the photoresist layer to expose partial the insulating layer thereunder the well defined. Next, implants are implanted into the photoresist layer, the insulating layer and the silicon substrate. Then the insulating layer exposed by the photoresist layer is removed and in-situ a native oxide is formed on the silicon substrate thereunder the well defined whereby changes the surface of the silicon substrate from hydrophobic into hydrophilic. A hard skin on the photoresist layer, resulting from implantation, is removed by oxygen plasma ashing and then the surface of the insulating layer and the silicon substrate are cleaned by conventional technologies.

  • Publication number: 20020133335
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a CELP-based speech coding with fine grain scalability include a parameter encoder that generates a basic bit-stream from LPC coefficients for a frame, pitch-related information for all the sub-frames obtained by searching an adaptive codebook, and first pulse-related information for even sub-frames obtained by searching an fixed codebook. The parameter encoder also generates enhancement bits, which are preceded by the basic bit-stream, from second pulse-related information for odd sub-frames. The quality of synthesized speech is improved on a basis of one additional odd sub-frame pulse, as more of the second pulse-related information in the enhancement bits is received by a decoder.

  • Patent number: 6450826
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing defining a number of channels each receiving and retaining a conductive contact. The contact includes a base section having upper and lower edges and opposite side edges connecting the upper and lower edges. Barbs are formed on side edges of the base section to interferentially retain the contact in the channel. Two support sections that are made slim and thus relatively flexible extend from the upper edge of the base section. The support sections are spaced from each other and forms a common plane with the base section. An arm that is relatively rigid extends from each support section in a direction substantially normal to the common plane. The arms are arranged to face each other. The arms are spaced from the upper edge of the base section different distances whereby the arms are staggered with respect to each other. The staggered arms helps saving space and accommodating improperly positioned pin to be engaged by the arms.
