  • Publication number: 20130222391
Abstract: A waveform display device with a data management function acquires drive-axis data of a machine tool from a numerical controller for controlling the machine tool and acquires parameters of the numerical controller from the numerical controller. The waveform display device manages the drive-axis data and the parameters in association with each other, based on a time at which the drive-axis data is acquired and a time at which the parameter is acquired. These times of acquisition of the drive-axis data and the parameters are set by a timer of the waveform display device.

  • Publication number: 20130218323
Abstract: Provided is a numerical controller having a machining curve creating function. A command point sequence is divided into a plurality of segments and a segment curve corresponding to each segment command point sequence is created. The segment curve is created so that a distance of the segment curve from the segment command point sequence is within a permissible value set in advance, and the maximum number of command points are included between a starting point and an ending point of the segment command point sequence. This process of segment curve creation is repetitively executed from the starting point to the ending point of the command point sequence to create a machining curve. Subsequently, the machining curve is interpolated and drive axes of a machine tool are moved to the interpolated positions on the machining curve.

  • Publication number: 20130206731
Abstract: When contact between a wire electrode and a workpiece is detected while, after wire electric discharge machining is ended, the wire electrode is moved (retraced) in the direction opposite to the machining direction along the machining path, the movement of the wire electrode is stopped. The wire electrode is moved in the offset direction from the contact position. When the wire electrode and the workpiece are brought into a non-contact state, the non-contact state is detected, and the movement of the wire electrode is stopped. The wire electrode is returned from the non-contact position to the machining path, and the wire electrode is retraced along the machining path in the state where the detection of contact between the wire electrode and the workpiece is neglected. Then, an amount of distortion of the workpiece is calculated from the contact position and the non-contact position.

  • Publication number: 20130211577
Abstract: A measurement program for sequentially measuring measurement points, which are to be measured with a touch sensor, is created on the basis of a machining program, which is read in, for machining a turning tool. Then, the rake face height is measured on each of the measurement points and the measurement data is stored. Subsequently, a calculation method of a correction amount is selected so as to calculate the correction amount, and whether or not the calculated correction amount is smaller than a regulation value is determined. The machining program is modified on the basis of the correction amount when the correction amount is not smaller than the regulation value, while the machining program is modified on the basis of the correction amount in accordance with the selected method when the correction amount is smaller than the regulation value.

  • Publication number: 20130206730
Abstract: A wire electric discharge machine has a function for controlling the machining liquid temperature. When it is predicted that the machining liquid temperature rises linearly, the machining liquid begins to be warmed at time t5b to reach machining liquid control temperature T2 at human operation beginning time t2. If the temperature rise at predetermined later time t8 is greater than predicted, temperature rising suspended from time t8 to a later time t9. Temperature rising resumed at time t9. This allows the machining liquid temperature to reach the machining liquid control temperature T2 without wasting electric power.

  • Publication number: 20130211598
Abstract: Prior to machining a workpiece, a warm-up control device for a machine tool is activated to perform a warm-up in which a main shaft rotary drive part and axes drive parts are driven. The amount of displacement of heat that is generated upon starting of the warm-up and changes with time is calculated every predetermined time period. Whether to end the warm-up is determined based on the thermal displacement amount. Whether to restart the warm-up after the end of the warm-up is determined based on the thermal displacement amount. When it is determined to restart the warm-up, the warm-up is restarted.

  • Publication number: 20130193112
Abstract: In order to detect a machining state of a wire electric discharge machine, the state of a machining gap is classified into three categories; an open-circuit state in which electric discharge does not occur after a first predetermined level is reached or surpassed by a machining-gap voltage, an electric discharge state in which electric discharge occurs after a second predetermined level is reached or surpassed by the machining-gap voltage, whereby the machining-gap voltage becomes lower than the second predetermined level, and a short-circuit state wherein a third predetermined level is not reached or surpassed by the machining-gap voltage. An average voltage in the machining gap is determined based on voltages in these states and the number of cycles of voltage application to the machining gap, number of open-circuits, number of discharges, and number of short-circuits per unit time.

  • Publication number: 20130193900
Abstract: If it is predicted that the sum of the output of a servo motor and the output of a spindle motor exceeds power supplied by a rectifier unit, during a cutting operation, a motor drive control device controls alternating-current power of a first inverter unit so as to reduce the feed speed of at least one feed axis and controls alternating-current power of a second inverter unit so as not to limit torque of the spindle motor. Further, if it is predicted that the sum of the output of the servo motor and the output of the spindle motor exceeds power supplied by the rectifier unit, during an operation other than the cutting operation, the motor drive control device controls the alternating-current power of the second inverter unit so as to limit the torque so as not to reduce the feed speed.

  • Publication number: 20130186865
Abstract: A wire electrical discharge machine is capable of step machining by setting only a position located anterior to a step portion of the workpiece during a setup operation before machining, without setting an inclination finishing position of a wire electrode after passing the step portion. A machining program is read, and when a wire electrode reaches a preset inclination starting position in front of a step position, inclination control of the wire electrode is started. Then, when the wire electrode has passed the position of the step portion, the inclination control of the wire electrode is finished.

  • Publication number: 20130190921
Abstract: A thermal displacement compensating device calculates a thermal displacement amount which is produced by heat generation or dissipation as a machine tool is actuated or stopped and changes with time. A thermal displacement compensation amount is calculated by multiplying the calculated thermal displacement amount by a coefficient. A position command is compensated by adding the thermal displacement compensation amount to the position command. On the other hand, a variation between a thermal displacement amount calculated last time and a current thermal displacement amount is determined for each predetermined time. A plurality of thermal displacement amount change states are identified based on comparison between the determined variation and a predetermined threshold. The coefficient is calculated based on the identified thermal displacement amount change state.
