  • Publication number: 20110064112
Abstract: Output beam from laser diode bar (1) has divergence around 40 degrees along the fast axis and around 12 degrees along the slow one. The quality of such a beam along the fast axis is good and fast axis collimating lens (FAC) (2) can compensate its high divergence down to 0.5-1 degrees. In the direction of the slow axis the beam from the laser diode bar is focused by cylindrical lens (3) onto the pumping face of laser active medium (5). The pumping face is wider than the pumping spot on it to ensure efficient collection of pumping light. Laser active medium has two parallel faces which form a waveguide for the pumping light. As a result, the pumping light is confined within the waveguide along the slow-axis direction and collimated (near parallel) in the fast-axis direction. Therefore, length of the pump volume (6) can be as long as the laser element itself.

  • Publication number: 20090224164
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is directed to scintillation detectors capable of detecting the position or depth of gamma photon interactions occurring within a scintillator, thereby improving the resolution of ring based positron emission tomography (PET) imaging systems. In one embodiment, the invention is directed to a scintillation detector that comprises at least one pair of side-by-side conjunct scintillation crystal bars having a shared interface between, and a solid-state semiconductor photodetector optically coupled to each output window of each individual scintillation crystal bar. The solid-state semiconductor photodetector includes an array of discrete sensitive areas disposed across a top surface of a common substrate, wherein each sensitive area contains an array of discrete micro-pixelated avalanche photodiodes, and wherein the output window of each scintillation crystal bar is optically coupled to each respective sensitive area in a one-on-one relationship.

  • Publication number: 20090050934
Abstract: The invention—microchannel avalanche diode, belongs to semiconductor photosensitive devices, and specifically to semiconductor avalanche diodes with internal amplification of the signal. The proposed microchannel avalanche diode can be used for registration of super feeble light pulses, including up to individual photons, and also gamma quants and charged particles in devices for medical gamma tomography, radiation monitoring, and nuclear physics experiments. The characteristic feature of the proposed device is that in the avalanche photodiode, containing a substrate and semiconductor layers with various electro-physical properties having common interfaces both between themselves and with the substrate, at least one two-dimensional matrix of separate solid-state areas—islets with enhanced conductivity for the creation of potential micro-holes is formed.

  • Publication number: 20080204548
Abstract: The present invention is directed a switchable optical imaging system and a 3D/2D image switchable apparatus having high functional flexibility in a number of aspects and adaptability to various applications. The present invention is based on generating directional optical beams, transforming these optical beams and projecting transformed optical beams in a field of view to thereby divide the field of view into one or more adjustable viewing zones and to form 2-dimensional (2D) images or perspective views of a 3-dimensional (3D) image of an object or scene therein. The present invention is embodied in the switchable optical imaging system and the 3D/2D image switchable apparatus using the same system.

  • Publication number: 20070165013
Abstract: This invention relates to optical-electronic technology and can be used for building 3-dimensional displays for computers, television (TV) receivers and other devices, as well as for building systems for volumetric television. The technical result is an increase in the number of aspect angles with relatively simple construction and the use of presently available components. The equipment generates a 3-dimensional representation and contains a display component for 2-dimensional representation with digital inputs and a first 2-dimensional matrix of converging micro-lenses, in which each micro-lens is optically joined to the corresponding region of the display surface of the component for display of 2-dimensional representations.

  • Publication number: 20050007550
Abstract: The invention provides methods and apparatuses for vision therapy procedures using laser interference patterns for relieving eye strain. One of the methods provided controls a speckle pattern in such a manner that an interesting visual stimulus is created which attracts and retains a viewer's attention and forces the eye to adjust to distance vision. This stimulates relaxation of the ciliary muscles of the viewer's eyes and contributes to the relief of eye strain. Another method provides electronically generated holograms for exercising eye muscles in order to relieve eye strain. The present invention provides further methods and apparatuses which may be used in a computer user's workplace.

  • Patent number: 6514336
Abstract: A method for producing piezoelectric lanthanide gallium crystals includes pulling a crystal through a forming mould dipped into a crucible containing a melt, which controls a heat and mass transfer, as the crystal is grown. While a lanthanide gallium single crystal is growing, a charge of mixed oxides, having a composition of the melt may be continuously added to the melt such that the quantity of melt is maintained substantially stable. Crystals produced by this method exhibit less variability in piezoelectric properties. The growth direction of the crystal is aligned along an axis perpendicular to such a crystallographic plane of lanthanide gallium crystal that an improved temperature stability, lowered power flow angle, and reduced diffraction would be present in surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices made in this crystallographic plane. Such crystals are more suitable for the mass-production slicing wafers, for example over 2 inches in diameter, for SAW devices.
