    Abstract: A point diffraction interferometric wavefront aberration measuring device comprising an optical source, an optical splitter, a first light intensity and polarization regulator, a phase shifter, a second light intensity and polarization regulator, an ideal wavefront generator, an object precision adjusting stage, a measured optical system, an image wavefront detection unit, an image precision adjusting stage, and a data processing unit. The center distance between the first output port and the second output port of the ideal wavefront generator is smaller than the diameter of the isoplanatic region of the measured optical system and is greater than the ratio of the diameter of the image point dispersion speckle of the measured optical system over the amplification factor thereof. A method for detecting wavefront aberration of the optical system is also provided by using the device.

    Abstract: Varying embodiments of intelligent systems are disclosed that respond to user intent and desires based upon activity that may or may not be expressly directed at the intelligent system. In some embodiments, the intelligent system acquires a depth image of a scene surrounding the system. A scene geometry may be extracted from the depth image and elements of the scene, such as walls, furniture, and humans may be evaluated and monitored. In certain embodiments, user activity in the scene is monitored and analyzed to infer user desires or intent with respect to the system. The interpretation of the user's intent or desire as well as the system's response may be affected by the scene geometry surrounding the user and/or the system. In some embodiments, techniques and systems are disclosed for interpreting express user communication, for example, expressed through fine hand gesture movements.

The controller profiles content of the emulsion responsive to the waveform by transforming the waveform into impedance relative to distance, converting the transformed waveform into effective dielectric relative to distance, determining mixture content of the emulsion at select distances responsive to the effective dielectric at the select distances and developing an output representing mixture content relative to level units.

Calibration-enabling data is derived from the reference set of the image features and the ascertained rendering information. The calibration-enabling data is provided to calibrate an imaging system. The calibration-enabling data may be stored. The imaging system may capture an image of the physical rendering of the reference image in relation to a capture coordinate space. An extracted set of image features may be extracted from the captured image. Respective ones of the image features in the reference and extracted sets may be matched. The imaging system may be calibrated based on matched ones of the image features and the rendering information.

The method is for arranging target wires in a target region, the method including: for each wire in the target wires, obtaining a signal jump interval with respect to each of the other wires in the target wires, wherein the signal jump interval of one wire with respect to a further wire is a time interval between occurrence of signal jump on the one wire and occurrence of signal jump on the further wire; calculating a corresponding time influence factor based on the signal jump interval, wherein the time influence factor is a decreasing function of the signal jump interval; and arranging the target wires in the target region based on the time influence factor. Coupling noise between wires may be reduced according to the technical solution of an embodiment of the present invention.

    Abstract: There is disclosed herein a method of measuring and profiling a process liquid in a process vessel. The process liquid includes an emulsion layer between two media of differing dielectric constants. An electromagnetic signal is generated and transmitted along a probe, defining a transmission line, extending into the vessel. The transmission line comprises a conductor in contact with the process liquid with an insulating coating on the conductor to maximize signal penetration in the process liquid. A reflected signal is received from the transmission line and a programmed controller is operatively connected to the probe for measuring characteristics of reflected signal energy along the transmission line for profiling the emulsion layer.

    Abstract: In the field of Human-computer interaction (HCI), i.e., the study of the interfaces between people (i.e., users) and computers, understanding the intentions and desires of how the user wishes to interact with the computer is a very important problem. The ability to understand human gestures, and, in particular, hand gestures, as they relate to HCI, is a very important aspect in understanding the intentions and desires of the user in a wide variety of applications. In this disclosure, a novel system and method for three-dimensional hand tracking using depth sequences is described. Some of the major contributions of the hand tracking system described herein include: 1.) a robust hand detector that is invariant to scene background changes; 2.) a bi-directional tracking algorithm that prevents detected hands from always drifting closer to the front of the scene (i.e., forward along the z-axis of the scene); and 3.) various hand verification heuristics.
