  • Patent number: 4136377
Abstract: An electrically-activated photoflash lamp unit including a linear array of lamps positioned within a housing which pivots about the unit's coupling means. The coupling means includes an elongated body member having a connector tab at one end thereof for plugging within a camera's socket. Sequential activation of the lamps is provided by flash-activating pulses from the camera's power source which pass up through the elongated body member and pivot location of the housing to each lamp.

  • Patent number: 4135227
Abstract: A flash lamp assembly for use with a camera and the power source associated therewith. The assembly includes several leadless, capacitively-ignited flash lamps retained within a longitudinal, light-transmitting housing and activated by the passage of electrical energy through the housing either in the form of a capacitive discharge or by direct connection to a pair of resilient contacts. Spaced conductive means located about each flash lamp receive the energy and capacitively ignite the lamp. Means for electrically connecting each lamp to the above power source are also described and include a mechanism for sequentially advancing the assembly's housing therein.

  • Patent number: 4125142
Abstract: A roller blind with a safety device for arresting accidental unrolling of the blind in which a shaft butt is coupled to one end of the winding shaft, a drive disk disposed on the shaft butt, a pawl shaped inertial member pivotally mounted on a pin extending from the drive disk, and a housing having internal teeth, around the disk and inertial member. The inertial member will not change its position relative to the drive disk but with increased unrolling velocity does change its position and the pawl engages the internal teeth of the housing to arrest unrolling of the blind.

  • Patent number: 4122584
Abstract: Lock for motor vehicle safety belts with a metallic base plate which has a recess in which a latching mechanism is supported so that it can be swung about an axis extending transversely to the insertion direction of a plug-in blade from the closed position by a pushbutton against the action of a spring. With insertion of the plug-in blade the locking mechanism snaps with a latching projection into an undercut of the plug-in blade to the closed position. The recess in the base plate is formed by punching free a lug, which bent out of the plane of the base plate is unitary with and spaced from the base plate forming a guide for the plug-in blade. Manufacture of such locks is simpler with savings in material. In addition the locks are lighter in weight.

  • Patent number: 4118068
Abstract: A swinging fitting for safety belts having a belt holder arm rotatable about a bearing pin and a tilting spring urging the belt holder arm in rest position when the belt is not in use. An intermediate member is placed in locking engagement with the bearing pin. The intermediate member engages one end of the tilting spring and the other end of the spring is engaged by the holder arm.

  • Patent number: 4112996
Abstract: A roller blind with a safety device for arresting accidental unrolling of the blind in which a concentric blocking shaft is affixed to the winding shaft, a gear fastened to the blocking shaft, a pivotally mounted pawl with a spring urging the pawl in contact with teeth of the gear, a gate normally holding the pawl out of contact with the teeth, an inertial member supported relatively movably with respect to the blocking shaft whereby upon increased unrolling velocity the inertial member will change its relative movement and activate the gate member to release the pawl and permit it to engage the teeth of the gear and arrest unrolling of the blind.

  • Patent number: 4109881
Abstract: A winding-up device for a safety belt in which a winding shaft connected to one end of the belt is normally freely rotatable in both pay-out and take-up direction in a housing. A locking arrangement is provided for locking the shaft to the housing and is operated in response to acceleration of the shaft in pay-out direction. Further means can be provided to operate the locking device in response to acceleration of the housing or of the vehicle in which the housing is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4084298
Abstract: A closure, or latch, especially for passenger seat belts in which a housing on the end of one belt portion has a slot for reciving a tongue on a member on the other belt portion. Within the housing are roller bodies engaging each other and spring biased toward the tongue. The tongue is provided with notch means for engagement by a roller body to effect latching while a disengaging member moveably carried by the housing is operable for moving the roller bodies into disengaging position.

  • Patent number: 4050644
Abstract: An inertia responsive control device in which a ball is provided which is supported by a recess therebeneath which is smaller in the lateral direction than the ball. A control element is pivotally supported at a point spaced from the ball and extends over and rests on top of the ball, preferably by way of a downwardly concave region. Movement of the ball laterally of the recess is limited so the center of gravity of the ball remains within the limits of the recess. Upward tilting of the control element by movement of the ball laterally of the recess is employed to initiate a control function, such as the locking of a safety belt.

  • Patent number: 4022998
Abstract: A device responsive to acceleration in any direction in which a ball rests on an upwardly facing seat in a housing and is movable laterally on the seat when acted on by a predetermined force of acceleration. When the ball moves laterally on the seat an electric circuit is completed which can be employed for signalling or control purposes.

  • Patent number: 4008863
Abstract: A roller system for a safety belt with a winding-up shaft coupled to a return spring and connected to a belt end while being journalled in a housing, the roller system also comprising a locking mechanism. The winding-up shaft or a compensating sleeve arranged thereon has its outer contour within the region of its connection with the belt so designed that the belt when being wound off or on describes the path of an Archimedes spiral.

  • Patent number: 3979083
Abstract: A winding-up device for a safety belt, in which a spool to which one end of the belt is connected is journaled in a housing with a spring biasing the spool in take-up direction. The belt can be freely drawn outwardly from the housing up to a limit acceleration. When a limit acceleration is reached, an inertia device interposed between the spool and the housing engages and prevents further rotation of the spool in the housing in pay-out direction.

  • Patent number: 3976257
Abstract: A safety belt pull-in device comprising a reel having one end of a first safety belt section connected thereto, whereas the other end of the first safety belt section is connectable to a second or stationary belt section. The first belt section, which when not in use, is wound upon the reel, is operatively connected to a motor such as a fluid-operable motor or an electric motor which so controls the reel that when the first safety belt section is being unwound from the reel by pulling the safety belt, is being pulled off the reel at at least nearly even pull.

  • Patent number: 3967794
Abstract: A device for blocking the shaft of a safety belt mechanism in which the blocking of the shaft is initiated in response to acceleration of the shaft in pay-out direction. An inertia responsive disc element is mounted on the shaft and movement thereof on the shaft initiates blocking of the shaft. To augment the inertia effect a magnet adjacent the disc provides a retarding effect thereon by the magnetic field from the magnet or by eddy currents in the disc induced therein by the field.

  • Patent number: 3952419
Abstract: A template for determining whether an auto radio unit can be installed in an auto dash having a dash opening of predetermined size and two shaft-receiving openings spaced on opposite sides of the dash opening. The template has a main opening corresponding in size and profile to the portion of the auto radio intended to extend through the dash and has two minor openings positioned on either side of the main opening in the same relative relation thereto that the shafts of the radio occupy with respect to the portion thereof extending through the dash opening. By placing the template against the dash with its openings aligned with the dash openings, it can be seen whether the dash openings are of sufficient size and correct positional location to receive the shafts of the radio and the portion thereof intended to extend through the dash.

  • Patent number: 3931536
Abstract: The arc tube of an electric discharge lamp is surrounded by a reflective filter. The filter selectively reflects arc discharge radiation outside the visible range to which the arc tube wall is transparent and to which the arc plasma is optically thick, so that the reflected radiation is preferentially absorbed by the plasma and not by the arc tube wall.
