  • Patent number: 4317263
Abstract: Belt lock for a safety belt with a spring-operated locking catch with hooked part engaging a plug-in tongue. A hand-operated member has a locking part in fixed connection. The locking part is disposed in the path of motion of the hooked part preventing release of the tongue unless the member is pressed by hand to move the locking part out of the path of motion. The locking part is movable along the plug-in axis; and the locking part in the closed position couples with the locking catch.

  • Patent number: 4313246
Abstract: Belt-lock and plug-in tongue for a safety belt having a locking mechanism with two locking latches for locking the tongue, tensioned against each other by a spring, and with one locking latch disposed on each side of the plug-in tongue. A hand-actuated member is movable against disengaging means of the locking mechanism to simultaneously move the two locking latches out of engagement with the tongue to permit removal of the tongue from the lock-housing. This assures symmetrical absorption by the belt lock through the latches of forces introduced by the belt system, and also equal distribution of the pulling forces to both locking latches so that the effective forces at each locking latch are halved.

  • Patent number: 4298908
Abstract: A disk-shaped flashlamp unit for use within an indexing means or mechanism associated with a camera. The unit includes several, e.g. ten, electrically-activated flashlamps radially disposed within the unit's plastic, light-transmitting housing. A pair of planar reflectors are utilized for each lamp to reflect the light therefrom through the housing. Light output can be further enhanced by utilization of two additional planar reflective members adjacent each lamp, the four members surrounding the side and bottom portions of the flashlamp's envelope to thereby direct light emitted from the flashlamp in a substantially singular direction through the peripheral region of the plastic housing. The invention's reflectors also assure prevention of sympathetic ignition.

  • Patent number: 4279590
Abstract: A photoflash lamp having a glass envelope with a clear protective exterior coating comprising a photopolymer reinforced with glass fibers. In applying the coating, a long strand of glass fibers is wrapped about the lamp envelope, which is then dipped in a liquid photopolymer, or short lengths of glass fiber are dispersed throughout the liquid photopolymer, either by premixing or application after dipping. The wet-coated lamp is then cure-hardened by a short period of irradiation with a source of ultraviolet light.

  • Patent number: 4258887
Abstract: Safety belt roll-up device with a release mechanism which in case of danger activates a control disk and locking means which block the belt shaft. A cam having an actuating dog for actuating the locking means is associated coaxially with the control disk and rotatable relative thereto. A spring holds the dog in a predetermined starting position relative to the control disk, which spring can be deflected resiliently relative to the control disk in opposite directions of rotation. Because of its ability to be deflected in oppsite directions, a single type roll-up device will serve where previously right and left devices are needed.

  • Patent number: 4232836
Abstract: Retightener with a pyrotechnic propellant charge for automatic safety-belt wind-up devices having an energy converter, wherein in the event of danger the explosive pressure of the ignited propellant charge acts on a pullout element tightening the safety belt around the body of the vehicle passenger to be protected via a liquid buffer arranged between the propellant charge and a pullback element. In accordance with the invention a receptacle which contains the liquid buffer is coupled to the winding shaft and rotates together with the latter. In the circumferential surface of the receptacle is at least one jet nozzle directed substantially tangentially to the axis of rotation and against a stationary guide ring surrounding the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4186424
Abstract: A photoflash lamp unit having an array of eight flash lamps located on each of two opposing sides thereof. Each array comprises two regions, upper and lower, of four lamps. A pivotal mounting device at a lower end of the unit permits the four lamps in one upper region to be fired after which the entire unit is rotated and the four lamps in the remaining, opposing upper region are fired. The unit is then inverted and the eight lamps in the two previously lower regions are fired in the manner described above.
