  • Publication number: 20060204848
Abstract: Process for the preparation of an insertion compound of an alkali metal in which the following successive stages are carried out: a) an organic complex of a transition metal or of a mixture of transition metals M in an oxidation state of greater than 2 is brought into contact with an alkali metal A in the ionic form and with an entity of formula Hb (XO4), where X is chosen from Si, S, Al, P, Ge, As or Mo and b has a value from 0 to 5, in a liquid medium in a closed chamber; the chamber is brought to a temperature T which makes possible the decomposition of the organic complex in the the said liquid medium; the temperature and the pressure in the chamber are brought back to ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure and the insertion compound for an alkali metal of formula AMXO4, in which M is in the +2 oxidation state, is recovered.

  • Publication number: 20050136331
Abstract: A lithium storage cell comprises at least a first electrode comprising an active material wherein Li+ cations can be inserted, a second electrode and an electrolyte. The active material of the first electrode comprises a linear condensed compound comprising at least two tetrahedra, respectively of AO4 and A?O4 type, bonded by a common oxygen atom. A transition metal ion M2+ with a degree of oxidation of +2 selected from the group consisting of Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+, Fe2+ and Ti2+ is inserted in the linear condensed compound, and the ratio between the number of Li+ cations able to be inserted in the active material and the number of transition metal ions M2+ is strictly greater than 1. A and A? are selected from the group consisting of P5+, Si4+, Al3+, S6+, Ge4+, B3+.

  • Patent number: 6652605
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for manufacturing a lithiated or overlithiated transition metal oxide comprising the following three steps, carried out successively or in a simultaneous manner: preparation of a solution of lithium alkoxide by dissolving lithium metal in an alcohol, the said alcohol being chosen among the alcohols originating from linear or ramified alkanes comprising at least three carbon atoms, the alcohols originating from unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbides, and mixtures of them; addition of a transition metal oxide powder to the said lithium alkoxide solution to obtain a dispersion; controlled reduction of the said transition metal oxide by the said alkoxide to obtain a lithiated or overlithiated transition metal oxide with a defined Li:Metal stoichiometry; the said process also comprising the following steps: evaporation of the residual alcohol, rinsing of the powder thus obtained, drying of the powder.
