  • Patent number: 8594199
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for filtering motion vector fields provided by a motion estimator apparatus are disclosed. The method includes receiving an input image, determining a motion vector field associated with the input image, determining a local segmentation image, forming a lattice map to identify periodic structures, using the local segmentation image and the lattice map to obtain an image segment pixel count and an image/motion segment pixel count, and using the segment pixel count and the image/motion segment pixel count to provide a filtered motion vector field. Some embodiments further include a motion estimation apparatus including an image delay apparatus, a lattice detector to find lattice structures in the input and delayed images, a histogram generator and a histogram analyzer to provide a set of horizontal and vertical search masks, a motion vector estimator to provide a motion vector field, and a motion vector filter as provided herein.

  • Patent number: 8537283
Abstract: An image interpolator for high-definition images is presented that utilizes a two or more level hierarchical decomposition for complexity reduction. At the lowest level, after a block-based motion estimator, a pixel-based motion vector selector and a motion vector-based halo reducer, an occlusion-based adaptive motion field interpolator provides preliminary motion vectors for higher resolution level. At the high resolution level, a new motion estimation refining based on the double consideration of eventual occlusion region and motion vector precision refines the preliminary motion vectors, and again a motion vector-based halo reduction re-corrects the refined motion vectors. A new motion compensated image interpolator with controllable features for multiple interpolated images is presented. A versatile post-processing configuration for remaining artifacts may also be included.

  • Patent number: 8279345
Abstract: A system and method for estimating random noise in an image frame or a sequence of image frames are presented. In some embodiments, the method includes performing Global Noise Estimation by comparing current and past filtered frames; converting global noise estimates into local noise estimates using estimated noise parameters based on current input image's local mean intensity; and providing local noise estimates to an adapted generic spatio-temporal filter. A parameter-based noise model is applied in the noise calculation.

  • Patent number: 8265158
Abstract: A method and apparatus for estimating motion of a pixel block in a first frame, the method including searching a first area in a second frame to identify a first matching block that corresponds to the pixel block, the first matching block including a first error value that is a minimum of at least one error criteria between the pixel block and the first matching block, calculating a first motion vector associated with the first matching block. The method further including searching a second area in the second frame to identify a second matching block that corresponds to the pixel block, the second matching block including a second error value that is a minimum of the at least one error criteria between the pixel block and the second matching block, calculating a second motion vector associated with the second matching block and selecting a final motion vector between the first and second motion vectors based on the first and second error value.

  • Patent number: 8113176
Abstract: The invention relates to an injector for injecting fuel into combustion chambers. According to the invention, a valve piston of a control valve is provided with low pressure on both faces thereof. The valve piston is arranged in a valve chamber hydraulically connected to a control chamber and is guided inside a sleeve received in the valve chamber. The valve chamber contains a spring supported on one end against the sleeve and on the other end on the valve piston such that the spring presses the valve piston onto a valve seat and the sleeve onto an opposing bottom surface. The valve piston diameter inside the sleeve corresponds to the effective valve piston diameter at the valve seat.
