  • Publication number: 20020077377
Abstract: This invention relates generally to water resistant peelable protective and decorative clear or pigmented foam coating compositions and, more specifically, to aqueous and solvent based, polymeric coating compositions which form a protective and/or decorative coating and is removably adheres to a variety of substrates, including automotive paints, metals, glass, vinyl, plastics, concrete, natural and synthetic elastomers, and ceramics. The coatings present a three-dimensional expandable foamy coating, and can be readily peeled off from the substrate as a whole piece. The coatings may be formulated for temporary or long-term protection depending upon the application.

  • Patent number: 6228283
Abstract: The present invention provides heavy duty long life corrosion inhibition formulations and compositions for inhibiting mineral scale and the corrosion of metals particularly the cavitation corrosion of aluminum in the presence of aqueous liquids. The combination of a mixture of polymeric polycarboxylates, azoles, molybdenum, and a combination of nitrite and nitrate salts, phosphates, stabilized silicates and transition metal compounds provide a synergistic protective effect against the cavitation corrosion of aluminum in aqueous liquids reducing the corrosion rate and is effective at relatively low concentrations and varying pH ranges.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 1999
Date of Patent: May 8, 2001
    Assignee: Ashland Inc.

  • Patent number: 6130190
Abstract: A lubricating composition comprising a liquid crystal and a surfactant is disclosed. The inventive composition increase the lubricity of lubricant oils, reduce the wear rate or metals being lubricated, and increase the load bearing properties of lubricants between various surfaces, for example, within an engine and in the rolling of metals.

  • Patent number: 6034038
Abstract: A lubricant additive formulation for addition to conventional motor oil to improve the lubricating properties of the engine oil and enhance the performance of the engine. The engine treatment oil additive comprises a synergistic blend of an oil soluble molybdenum additive, polyalphaolefin, ester such as a polyolester or diester, polytetrafluoroethylene, dispersant inhibitor containing zinc dithiophosphate, mineral oil base stock, viscosity index improvers, and borate ester used in combination with a conventional crankcase lubricant at about a 20 to about a 25% volume/percent.

  • Patent number: 5962377
Abstract: A lubricant additive formulation for increasing the performance of conventional engine lubricants for use as an engine treatment oil additive formulated for addition to conventional motor oil to improve the lubricating properties of the engine oil and enhance the performance of the engine. The preferred embodiment of the engine treatment oil additive comprises a synergistic blend of chemical constituents including an oil soluble molybdenum additive, polyalphaolefin, ester such as a polyolester or diester, polytetrafluoroethylene, dispersant inhibitor containing zinc dithiophosphate, mineral oil base stock, viscosity index improvers, and borate ester used in combination with a conventional crankcase lubricant at about a 20 to about a 25% volume/percent.

  • Patent number: 4999122
Abstract: Non-aqueous lamellar liquid crystalline lubricant compositions comprise an organic acid component or a salt thereof, an organic amine component and a non-aqueous solvent which maintains the liquid crystalline properties of a mixture of the organic acid or salt thereof and the organic amine. The organic acid component is selected from the group consisting of alkyl phosphonic acids, aryl phosphonic acids, alkyl sulfonic acids and aryl sulfonic acids. The weight ratios of the components are such that the compositions exhibit lamellar liquid crystalline properties, the weight ratio of organic acid to organic amine is in the range of about 1:1 to about 5:1 and the solvent comprises not greater than about 75 weight percent of the composition.
