Publication number: 20240059433Abstract: A system and method for directing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with respect to virtual segregated areas to guarantee safety levels. A host platform, upon receiving a request for delivery of goods from merchant to customer, transmit delivery instructions to a UAV, which is configured, upon arriving at a specified loading area, to: maintain a minimum elevation above the loading area; perform a recognition hand-shake with a merchant device; direct lowering of a winch to receive a load; and confirm a weight of the received load with respect to a maximum weight. Upon arriving at a specified delivery area, the UAV maintains a minimum elevation above the delivery area, performs a recognition hand-shake with a customer device, directs lowering of the winch to deliver the load, and confirms removal of the load, at least via a sensed weight applied with respect to a mobile hold.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2023Publication date: February 22, 2024Inventor: Francesco Ricci

Patent number: 11202587Abstract: The invention encompasses novel methods of operating electrochemical sensors such as aptamer-based sensors to analyze complex samples, such as flowing whole blood both in vitro or in vivo. In such environments, electrochemical sensors are often subject to drift, which complicates the interpretation of sensor output in terms of target concentration. The method of the invention utilizes a dual-reporter recognition element that generates a first, sensing current that is responsive to target binding and to environmental factors and a second, reference current that is only affected by environmental factors. The reference current provides information about environmentally-induced drift, which allows the drift effect to be subtracted out. By removing drift artifacts, electrochemical sensors may be deployed to analyze complex samples, such as whole blood, in vivo.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2017Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Kevin Plaxco, Hui Li, Netzahualcoyotl Arroyo Curras, Di Kang, Francesco Ricci

Patent number: 10012540Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices relating to optical imaging systems for gathering data on atmospheric trace gas emissions from a satellite. An optical system used in the satellite has a Fabry-Perot interferometer coupled to a suitable telescope. The interferometer is a wide angle Fabry-Perot interferometer which creates a fringing pattern in concentric circles with each fringe being a different wavelength on the imaging system. A filter is used with the optical system and allows multiple adjacent modes in a selected spectral range to pass through the interferometer to the imaging system. Each pixel in the imaging system collects light at multiple wavelengths within the selected spectral range. The optical system gathers multiple images of the target area allowing light from the target area to be collected at multiple different wavelengths. Different absorption data for different atmospheric trace gases can be gathered in a single satellite pass over the target area.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2015Date of Patent: July 3, 2018Assignee: GHGSAT INC.Inventors: James J. Sloan, Berké Durak, David Gains, Francesco Ricci, Jason McKeever, Joshua Lamorie, Mark Sdao, Vincent Latendresse, Jonathan Lavoie, Roman Kruzelecky
