Abstract: An emergency position indicating radio beacon that includes a waterproof rigid housing, antenna, a retention carriage strap securely mounted around its exterior periphery on a spool in a storage position. In an emergency the user can unwind the retention carriage strap and form an adjustable loop in the strap using hook and loop fasteners to firmly attach the strap connected to the EPIRB housing to the user's arm that allows a user to transport the radio beacon with the retention carriage strap in a hands-free configuration.

Abstract: The present application provides compositions and methods useful for treating influenza. As described herein, the compositions and methods are based on the development of peptides and peptide combinations which exhibit immunogenic properties against influenza. In some embodiments, the peptide combinations induce a protective response against multiple strains of influenza, e.g., seasonal strains of influenza or even the new pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus of swine origin.

Abstract: A first device useful as a support base for utility poles, which integrates an anti-theft security system directed to prevent theft of power supply wires used in underground power distribution systems. The security system includes a dual internal conduit system for housing the wires and at least two head bolts inserted in an individual lateral straight conduit. Similarly, a second device includes a mold having an inverted T-shaped housing for the wires and a head bolt inside the upright conduit section of said inverted T-shaped housing. In both devices, the wires are moved in an angled position and secured by tightening the corresponding bolt.

In case of a deviation from the reference voltage, the method modifies the current supplied, changing the exposure time so that the maximum power is delivered at all times. In short, it is based on a method that regulates the tube current as a function of the supply voltage (of the batteries or the grid).

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods for preparing vesicles. In general, these methods include steps of providing a lyophilized lipid product and rehydrating the lyophilized lipid product with an aqueous solution comprising an antigen such that antigen-containing vesicles are formed. The lyophilized lipid product is prepared by dissolving vesicle-forming lipids in a polar-protic water-miscible organic solvent to produce a lipid solution and then lyophilizing the lipid solution. The present disclosure also provides antigen-containing vesicle formulations prepared using these methods. The present disclosure also provides kits that include a lyophilized lipid product in a first container and an aqueous solution comprising an antigen in a second container.

Abstract: The invention relates to the discovery of a human endogenous retrovirus (HERV) family, Type I HERV-K (HML-2) which appear to be active in vitro and in vivo, infectious, and which have the have the salient features and properties of foamy retroviruses. Based on its natural replication in humans, and that it protects the host from viral and tumor transformation, this non-pathogenic endogenous virus could be developed as a replication competent gene therapy vector. It also is expected to have much higher efficacy than other vectors as it crosses the bloodbrain barrier and infects almost all cell types in the host (proliferating or not). It may naturally lyse tumor cells or infected cells, and thus could even be used without genetic modification. Of course, this vector could be used in traditional ways with it ability to replicate genetically removed.

Abstract: A method for writing bytes to flash memory is disclosed herein whereby the method comprising includes counting bytes from a data source, the bytes associated with a first value and a second value and comparing a number of bytes associated with the first value with a number of bytes associated with the second value. The method may further include inverting the bytes in the case where the number of bytes associated with the first value is greater than the number of bytes associated with the second value and transferring the bytes not associated with the second value to the flash memory.

In particular, while hepatitis A vaccines are currently limited to parenteral administration routes (i.e., intramuscular injection), we have identified compositions that induce a protective response when administered orally.
