  • Publication number: 20110255700
Abstract: Among other things, techniques and systems are disclosed for detecting musical structures, such as downbeats. In one aspect, a method performed by a data processing device includes receiving an input audio signal. The method includes detecting a meter in the received audio signal. Detecting the meter includes generating an envelope of the received audio signal; generating an autocorrelation phase matrix having a two-dimensional array based on the generated envelope to identify a dominant periodicity in the received audio signal; and filtering both dimensions of the generated autocorrelation phase matrix to enhance peaks in the two-dimensional array. The meter represents a time signature of the input audio signal having multiple beats. Additionally, the method includes identifying a downbeat as a first beat in the detected meter.

  • Patent number: 8037827
Abstract: A fuze for a projectile has a firing assembly for firing a main charge of the projectile and a delay detonator for firing the firing assembly after a delay time which is defined by a burning distance of a delay charge. The delay detonator has a housing with a fuze half in which it is fired and a detonator half which contains a detonator charge for firing the firing assembly. In order to prevent the projectile from misfiring as a result of premature detonation of the delay detonator, the housing has a relief opening in the fuze half, with an opening cross section that can be passed through freely in the firing state of the delay detonator.

  • Publication number: 20110091476
Abstract: This invention provides antibodies that interact with or bind to human nerve growth factor (NGF) and neutralize the function of NGF thereby. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of said antibodies and methods for neutralizing NGF function, and particularly for treating NGF-related disorders (e.g., chronic pain) by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of anti-NGF antibodies. Methods of detecting the amount of NGF in a sample using anti-NGF antibodies are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110065656
Abstract: A method is described for providing acute symptomatic relief to a subject with Parkinson's Disease (PD) or other CNS disorders resulting from dopamine deficiency in the brain comprising administering to said subject an amount of a ketogenic material sufficient to produce a ketosis in the subject sufficient to provide therapeutic benefit in such neurological disorders. Preferred materials produce a ketosis is such that the total concentration of acetoacetate and (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate in the blood of the subject is raised to between 0.1 and 30 mM.

  • Publication number: 20110054648
Abstract: Among other things, techniques and systems are disclosed for detecting onsets. On a device, an audio signal is pre-processed in temporal domain. The pre-processed audio signal is smoothed on the device. A predetermined quantity of peaks is selectively identified in the pre-processed and smoothed audio signal based on a size of a sample window applied to the pre-processed and smoothed audio signal.

  • Publication number: 20110007313
Abstract: Fiber optic sensors employ a high brightness light source such as a fiber optic supercontinuum source, multiplexed superluminescent light emitting diodes, or a broadband tunable laser diode. Light is delivered to the measurement location via fiber optics and sensor optics directs infrared radiation onto material the being monitored that is located in a hostile environment. A disperse element is positioned in the detection beam path in order to separate the wavelengths and to perform spectral analysis. A spectral analysis of the radiation that emerges from the sheet yields information on a plurality of parameters for the material. For papermaking applications, the moisture level, temperature and cellulose content in the paper can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20100326307
Abstract: A safety and arming unit for a fuze of a projectile has a rotor for interruption of a firing chain. The rotor can rotate from a safe position to an armed position. In order to allow the safety and arming unit to be designed to be physically compact and such that it can be assembled easily, it is proposed that it has a first and a second rotor safety device which each engage in the rotor in order to block rotor rotation to the armed position, wherein the first rotor safety device is designed to carry out a release movement by virtue of its inertia during a launch acceleration of the projectile, and the second rotor safety device has a pyrotechnic charge for producing a release movement.

  • Publication number: 20100286605
Abstract: A valve is provided herein for permitting mixing of at least two components, the valve including a body configured for slidable liquid tight engagement with an injector or drug cartridge barrel. The body includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a channel extending therebetween, the channel having a proximal portion and a distal portion. A poppet is sealingly and slidably disposed in the channel to selectively move between first and second positions. The poppet includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a fluid channel, the fluid channel being defined in the poppet and extending from an outlet opening located distally of the distal end of the body. With the poppet being in the first position, the poppet defines a liquid tight seal in the channel such that liquid flow through the channel is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20100282970
Abstract: A terahertz time-domain spectrometer scanning sensor system includes a transmitter and a receiver that are secured to a mobile scanner head. Optical pump light, in the form of short pulses launched from a stationary laser located remotely from the scanner head, is delivered to the transmitter and receiver through a controlled fiber optic cable arrangement so that variations in temporal pulse relays that are associated fiber optic transmission are minimized. In this fashion, the movement of the fiber optic cable is maneuvered along a defined path so as to control the bends in the cable and thus minimize variations in temporal delays that can otherwise arise as the pulses of light are transmitted through the fiber. Pulses of laser light launched from the laser into the optical fiber will exit the cable with consistent (i) time of arrival, (ii) phase duration, and (iii) polarization state and energy.

  • Patent number: 7774319
Abstract: In an embodiment, a database interface performs a three-step optimistic database access. The database interface initially performs an optimistic read of a database object. The database object is checked for consistency after the optimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a first pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that does not guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of committed read). The database object is checked again for consistency after the first pessimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a second pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that may guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of repeatable read).
