Abstract: A system and method for automatically enrolling users of a website or other network-based service in sweepstakes. A user of 4 user computer system connects to a host computer system hosting a website or other network-based service and is awarded points for accessing features of the website or service. The points are displayed in real-time on the user's computer and transmitted to a database server, which maintains the user's point totals. The user is then automatically given a number of entries in a sweepstakes based on the number of points he or she has been awarded. Users may also be awarded points for accessing features of websites or services of third-party host computer systems.

Abstract: A digital camera, comprising an image sensor and an optical system for capturing an image of a scene and a wireless communication system. User interface elements are provided enabling a user to select a sharing destination for a captured digital image. A plurality of network pathways are identified for communication with the sharing destination using the wireless communication system. A priority is determined for each of the network pathways and the digital image is transmitted to the sharing destination using the highest priority network pathway.

Abstract: A computer program product for controlling a programmable communication device that includes a local-area wireless communication system, a wide-area wireless communication system, and a data processing system. The computer program product causes the data processing system to perform the steps of: designating a digital camera from which digital images will be received; receiving a digital image and associated sharing data indicating one or more sharing destinations from the digital camera using the local-area wireless communication system; and transmitting the digital image to the one or more sharing destinations using the wide-area wireless communication system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for configuring parameters of elements of a power factor correction (PFC) converter are disclosed herein. The PFC converter may include a PFC circuit configured to modulate input power into DC modulated power, and a transformer configured to transform the DC modulated power into an output power. A storage capacitor configuration procedure, a storage inductor configuration procedure, and a phase angle and voltage verification procedure may be utilized with the PFC converter. A phase comparator and storage capacitor configuration may be used to determine a test voltage and phase angle, where a rated bus phase angle that is lower than the test voltage and test phase angle may determine a parameter of the storage capacitor network to supply the rated bus voltage and subsequent phase angle correction.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention is a system comprising one or more subsystems, which can be practiced alone or in combination, which together allow for monitoring of groundwater, rock, and casing for production flow and leakage of hydrocarbon fluids. A flow measurement subsystem measures flow of hydrocarbons in the horizontal casing string. A well mechanical integrity monitoring subsystem monitors the mechanical integrity of the natural gas production well, including the junctures of a completed well. An aquifer monitoring subsystem directly monitors water aquifer(s) underneath and surrounding a natural gas production well or pad, including monitoring wells or existing water wells. A communication subsystem is used to communicate measurements taken downhole to the surface. The present invention may be used to enhance the production from a gas bearing shale formation, mitigate liability associated with hydrocarbon migration, and monitor for a loss of mechanical integrity of a well.

The stored instructions include setting the digital camera system to operate in the retail mode in response to detecting a predefined first condition; enabling a user to capture a plurality of digital images, storing any digital images captured while the digital camera system is operating in the retail mode in the storage memory; and automatically deleting at least some of the stored digital images from the storage memory in response to detecting a predefined second condition, wherein any stored digital images that were not captured in the retail mode are not deleted from the storage memory.

Abstract: Methods for increasing the levels of avenanthramides in oats through false malting is disclosed. Oats are first subject to induction or enhancement of a secondary dormancy, and then malted for up to 5 days at an elevated temperature. The malted but not germinated oats are then dried and used as is, or further processed or milled to produce food, feed, nutraceutical or personal care products and ingredients. Methods are also provided for rendering non-dormant oats dormant and thus suitable for false malting.
