  • Publication number: 20230373117
Abstract: In a first aspect of the subject invention, a wet shaving cartridge is provided herein having bent razor blades each having a constant cross-sectional thickness in the range of 0.005 inches to 0.010 inches, which is thicker than found in the prior art. This provides for a bent blade wet shaving cartridge with razor blades of good rigidity but without the waste, or need for welding, as found with planar razor blades.

  • Patent number: 6412176
Abstract: In order to improve adhesion between the skin and a razor guard provided at the leading edge of a razor cartridge, the guard is provided with a large number of small concavities. These are preferably, but not to limited to hemispherically shaped concavities and are discrete and thus isolated from one another. These concavities can act as suction cups that increase the adhesion between the skin and the guard and thus tension the skin as the razor is drawn thereover. These concavities or dimples can also contain a reserve of shaving preparation for release on multiple passes over the same area.

  • Patent number: 5903978
Abstract: A razor caddy receives a razor handle suitable for supporting a razor cartridge. The top and bottom handle surfaces have a continuous index finger profile when gripped on the top surface of the razor handle. The razor handle has a widened portion proximate to a proximate end, and side portions of the razor handle form a concave profile between the proximate end and the distal end. The side portions also form a widened portion at the distal end. The index finger profile of the razor handle defines a detail and a normal shaving position structure in combination with the handle top and bottom surface. First and second elastomeric gripping portions are each positioned on the bottom of the handle. The detail shaving position is achieved by the first gripping portion having a defined thumb engaging area proximate to the proximate end, with the elastomeric material defining correct thumb placement. The second gripping area is positioned near the distal end of the handle.

  • Patent number: 5590468
Abstract: A movable blade cartridge including a platform member having a blade seat and a guard member. The guard member is located of forward and parallel to the blade seat so as to form a longitudinal slot between the blade seat and the guard member. A primary blade which is disposed on the blade seat such that the cutting edge of the blade is located rearwardly of the guard member. A substantial portion of the primary blade extends into the slot formed between the guard member and the blade seat such that the blade is flexible into the slot. The guard member further comprises a plurality of upwardly extending protrusions which function as a conditioning bar and engage the shaving surface prior to the shaving process. A spacer is located on the upper surface of the primary blade.

A primary blade which is disposed on the blade seat such that the cutting edge of the blade is located rearwardly of the guard member. A substantial portion of the primary blade extends into the slot formed between the guard member and the blade seat such that the blade is flexible into the slot. Both the primary and secondary blade are manufactured and mounted so as to be flexible in response to forces encountered during the shaving operation. The blade cartridge also includes a cap member disposed on the secondary blade which prevents upward movement of the second blade and end clips which are secured to the blade cartridge so as to cover the outer edges of the primary and secondary blades.
