  • Patent number: 7481951
Abstract: A luminescent powder (1) with luminescent particles (2) having an average luminescent-particle size (3) selected from the range of from 0.1 ?m inclusive to 5.0 ?m inclusive. The luminescent particles comprise primary particles (4) having an average primary-particle size (5) selected from the range of from 0.1 ?m inclusive to 1.0 ?m inclusive. The primary particles which, for example, consist of a cerium-doped yttrium-aluminum garnet (Y3Al5O12), are agglomerated to form the luminescent particles. A method for producing the luminescent powder has the following steps: a) preparing at least one precursor of the primary particles, b) producing the primary particles from the precursor of the primary particles, and c) forming the luminescent particles of the luminescent powder from the primary particles. The precursor for Y3Al5O12 is, for example, a powder mixture of hydroxides.

  • Publication number: 20070297171
Abstract: A color-tunable illumination system for imaging illumination having a tuning means and at least two light sources of different colors. The illumination system comprises a reflector having a reflector contour, the light sources being accommodated in the vicinity of the reflector contour, and a compact diffusing medium accommodated at the focal point of the reflector. The light from the light sources is directed substantially onto the diffusing medium and then, from there, is diffused onto the reflector contour, electronic driving of the light sources making it possible to regulate the intensity of the light sources separately from one another, with the result that the light leaving the reflector can be color-tuned.

  • Patent number: 7265487
Abstract: A discharge lamp (1) having a discharge vessel (2) which surrounds a discharge medium which emits electromagnetic radiation in the VUV region when the lamp is operating has, on the inner side of the discharge vessel wall, a first phosphor layer, which faces the discharge medium and comprises a UVA component which can be excited by the VUV radiation and is intended to emit electromagnetic radiation in the UVA region. A second phosphor layer, which can be excited by the UVA radiation and is intended to emit electromagnetic radiation in the visible region either lies beneath the first phosphor layer or is applied to the outer side of the discharge vessel wall. This results in a lower color locus shift compared to a conventional phosphor mixture, which can be excited directly by VUV radiation.

  • Publication number: 20070170842
Abstract: An illumination device with at least one LED as the light source, the LED emitting primary radiation in the range from 370 to 430 nm of the optical spectral region (peak wavelength), this radiation being partially or completely converted into radiation of a longer wavelength by three phosphors which are exposed to the primary radiation from the LED and which emit in the blue, green and red spectral regions, so that white light is formed. The conversion is achieved at least with the aid of a phosphor which emits blue light with a wavelength maximum at 440 to 485 nm, and with the aid of a phosphor which emits green light with a wavelength maximum at 505 to 550 nm, and with the aid of a phosphor which emits red light with a wavelength maximum at 560 to 670 nm.
