  • Patent number: 9260514
Abstract: This invention provides antibodies that interact with or bind to human nerve growth factor (NGF) and neutralize the function of NGF thereby. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of these antibodies and methods for neutralizing NGF function, and particularly for treating NGF-related disorders (e.g., chronic pain) by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of anti-NGF antibodies. Methods of detecting the amount of NGF in a sample using anti-NGF antibodies are also provided.

  • Patent number: 9203895
Abstract: A system and method are provided for offloaded lateral transmission between protocol interface devices in an electronic system. Such offloading allows the lateral transmission of data and/or instructions between disparate protocol interface devices without burdening the electronic system's resources, such as the primary processor, memory, and/or system bus. A lateral communication controller is provided to intercouple the first and second protocol interface devices and selectively intercept data packets from one device to be injected into another.

  • Patent number: 9201018
Abstract: Scanning sensor for measuring properties of continuous flat sheet, that is moving in the machine direction, employs an IR radiation source for directing a beam of incident IR radiation that impinges the sheet. The IR source has elongated lamp filament that generates IR radiation and the corresponding spot size formed on the sheet has elongated dimensions with its long axis being aligned with the machine direction. Aligned with the MD maximizes sensor spatial resolution in the cross direction. The sensor can employ a receiver having rectangular geometry with its long axis being aligned also in the MD. Scanning sensor can operate in the reflective, transmissive, or offset transmission mode to monitor characteristics of flat sheets, particularly of paper or plastic products.

  • Publication number: 20150314071
Abstract: A valve (10) for permitting mixing of at least two components within a barrel (12) is provided including a stopper (20) configured for slidable liquid-tight engagement with an inner surface (13) of the barrel. The stopper is moveable between a first position and a second position and includes a proximal end (22), a distal end (24), and a channel (26) extending therebetween. The valve further includes a stationary body (30) comprising a base (32) and a stem (34), the stem being disposed within the channel of the stopper when the stopper is in the second position. When the stopper is in the first position, there is a liquid-tight seal in the channel, such that fluid flow through the channel is prevented. Movement of the stopper to the second position terminates the liquid-tight seal, thereby establishing fluid communication through the channel. A drug containing device and assembly for delivering a reconstituted drug are also provided herein.

  • Patent number: 9006547
Abstract: The present invention is a bridge truss that alleviates tensile and compressive stresses applied to an acoustic stringed instruments soundboard from the bridge. These tensile and compressive stresses are transferred through the bridge truss to chamber of the acoustic stringed instrument instead. The bridge truss allows the support brace of the acoustic stringed instrument to be reduced or eliminated. The bridge truss provides the soundboard with the ability to produce longer sustained vibrations, and vibrations of greater amplitude—increasing performance and tone. Also, the relative height of the soundboard can be altered for greater playability, at a user's discretion. A user only needs to reposition threaded adjustment rods from atop the bridge of the acoustic stringed instrument in order to transfer more or less stress to the bridge truss.

  • Patent number: 8983082
Abstract: Among other things, techniques and systems are disclosed for detecting musical structures, such as downbeats. In one aspect, a method performed by a data processing device includes receiving an input audio signal. The method includes detecting a meter in the received audio signal. Detecting the meter includes generating an envelope of the received audio signal; generating an autocorrelation phase matrix having a two-dimensional array based on the generated envelope to identify a dominant periodicity in the received audio signal; and filtering both dimensions of the generated autocorrelation phase matrix to enhance peaks in the two-dimensional array. The meter represents a time signature of the input audio signal having multiple beats. Additionally, the method includes identifying a downbeat as a first beat in the detected meter.

  • Patent number: 8895824
Abstract: A reverse bridge tension configuration for a stringed instrument allows the stringed instrument to offset some of the tension felt by the bridge. For a typical stringed instrument such as a guitar, the tensioned strings are bound between the bridge and the headstock. However, the reverse bridge tension configuration loops the tensioned strings on a path that goes around the back of the instrument, through the body of the instrument, and back to the bridge. A reverse bridge is positioned on the corner of the soundboard and the back end so that the tensioned strings can loop around the back end without causing pressure damage to the outer surface of the instrument. Once the tensioned strings travel around the reverse bridge and into the body, channels are positioned within the body in order to guide the tensioned strings back to the bridge.
