  • Patent number: 7774319
Abstract: In an embodiment, a database interface performs a three-step optimistic database access. The database interface initially performs an optimistic read of a database object. The database object is checked for consistency after the optimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a first pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that does not guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of committed read). The database object is checked again for consistency after the first pessimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a second pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that may guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of repeatable read).

  • Publication number: 20100132788
Abstract: Composite of layers which comprises a dielectric layer and a layer which comprises pyrogenic zinc oxide and is bonded to the dielectric layer. Process for producing the composite of layers, in which the pyrogenic zinc oxide is applied to the dielectric layer in the form of a dispersion in which the zinc oxide particles are present with a mean aggregate diameter of less than 200 nm, and the zinc oxide layer is dried and then treated at temperatures of less than 200° C. Process for producing the composite of layers, in which the pyrogenic zinc oxide is applied to a substrate layer or a composite of substrate layers in the form of a dispersion in which the zinc oxide particles are present with a mean aggregate diameter of less than 200 nm to form a zinc oxide layer, and then the zinc oxide layer and the substrate layer are treated at temperatures of less than 200° C., and then a dielectric layer is applied to the zinc oxide layer. • Patent number: 7702696
Abstract: Methods and a system for managing database usage. The methods and system include receiving a request to create a table, determining the table is an empty table, and storing a pseudo-table in a data store in response to determining the table is empty. The pseudo-table may be a database view. Metadata related to a table may be stored in the pseudo-table to describe characteristics of the table. The pseudo-table occupies less space than a corresponding empty table. The system may implement the methods in middleware transparent to the applications.

  • Publication number: 20100034818
Abstract: This invention provides antibodies that interact with or bind to human nerve growth factor (NGF) and neutralize the function of NGF thereby. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of said antibodies and methods for neutralizing NGF function, and particularly for treating NGF-related disorders (e.g., chronic pain) by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of anti-NGF antibodies. Methods of detecting the amount of NGF in a sample using anti-NGF antibodies are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100024999
Abstract: An in-situ time domain spectroscopy (TDS)-based method (200) for non-contact characterization of properties of a sheet material while being produced by a manufacturing system (700). A time domain spectrometry system (100) and calibration data for the system is provided. The calibration data includes data for transmitted power through or reflected power from the sheet material as a function of a moisture content of the sheet material. At least one pulse of THz or near THz radiation from a transmitter (111) is directed at a location on a sheet material sample (130) while being processed by the manufacturing system (700). Transmitted or reflected radiation associated with at least one transmitted or reflected pulse from the sample location is synchronously detected by a detector (110) to obtain the sample data.

  • Publication number: 20100017320
Abstract: In a computer implemented currency trading support system trades are provided to a third party (400) for settlement, and at least one of the parties (1) has a checking system (102) at which trades are checked individually. A method is described in which one or both of the parties receives data relating to individual agreed trades, identifies trades involving the same currency and the same counterparty and aggregates them into a single aggregate trade corresponding to a plurality of individual trades. The data relating to trades is then passed directly to the third party settlement system and the checking system receives data relating to any aggregate trades resulting from the aggregating step as well as data relating to the corresponding individual trades.

  • Publication number: 20100005993
Abstract: A fuze for a projectile has a firing assembly for firing a main charge of the projectile and a delay detonator for firing the firing assembly after a delay time which is defined by a burning distance of a delay charge. The delay detonator has a housing with a fuze half in which it is fired and a detonator half which contains a detonator charge for firing the firing assembly. In order to prevent the projectile from misfiring as a result of premature detonation of the delay detonator, the housing has a relief opening in the fuze half, with an opening cross section that can be passed through freely in the firing state of the delay detonator.

  • Publication number: 20090260533
Abstract: A fuse for a projectile has a primary firing assembly and a secondary firing assembly. The secondary firing assembly, which is separated from the primary firing assembly by a barrier, has a firing relay with a relay explosive in a sleeve component and a firing booster. When using insensitive explosive for the secondary firing assembly, little energy should be lost in the relay from the primary to the secondary firing assembly, with enhanced safety against inadvertent firing in the secondary firing assembly. For that purpose, the sleeve component forms a gas-tight seal for the secondary firing assembly with respect to the primary firing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20090126593
Abstract: A safety and arming unit for a fuse includes a firing chain having first and second firing devices defining an intermediate space therebetween and a barrier blocking the intermediate space in a safe position. The firing chain is brought into an armed position by a releasing movement vacating the intermediate space. First and second mutually independent securing devices lock the barrier in the safe position and execute an unlocking action based on two mutually independent physical arming parameters. A compact and very reliable safety and arming unit can be achieved in this way.

  • Patent number: 7461097
Abstract: In a software system (200/210/220) with a business application (200), database migration from a source database (210) to a physically different target database (230) is performed by a migration tool (260) that evaluates database instructions (201) that the application (200) consecutively sends to the source database (210). The migration tool (260) stores representations (254, 255) of an action type (205, D, I, U) and of a key (231) in a log table (250) when an action type coincides with a predetermined action type (D, I, U); copies source table entries to the target table (240); and adjusts entries in the target table that have keys represented in the log table (250). During migration, the application (200) and the source table continue communicating.
