  • Publication number: 20020000740
Abstract: An upholstered foldable furniture system for mounting on a horizontal surface, having a first unfolded configuration for seating; and a second folded configuration for storage and shipping. The system comprises a horizontal seat support frame having a rear support member, front support member, and spaced apart side support members. A back member, having a bottom back member, top back member, and spaced aside side support members is rotatably secured to a rear support member, and is rotatable between a position parallel to the seat support frame and an obtuse angle with respect to the seat support frame. Left and right arm members are each comprised of a rear arm frame, a front arm frame, an upper arm frame, and a lower arm frame. The lower arm frames are rotatably secured to the side support members so that they can rotate through approximately 180 degrees from a vertically upward position to a vertically downward position.

  • Publication number: 20020000756
Abstract: In electronic systems for power adjustment in motor vehicles, conventional mechanical linkages or Bowden cables are replaced or supplemented by the transmission of electric signals. Such an electronic power adjustment device contains a control unit (6) which acts on the power adjustment means (9) via an electric actuator (8). In order to influence the engine power, an accelerator pedal (5) is provided as a setpoint generator. In a converter (7), the accelerator pedal position is converted into an electric signal which is supplied to the control unit (6). During the starting of the vehicle, a driving authorization control is carried out. According to the invention, the vehicle engine can already be started during the driving authorization control, but accelerator pedal position is taken into account by the control unit (6) only when the driving authorization control is concluded positively.

  • Publication number: 20020001984
Abstract: In a method for producing an electrical connection between a flexible printed-circuit board (1) and a metallic mating contact member (8), a light-radiating opening (5) is formed in a first insulating layer (2) and a connecting opening (6) is formed in a second insulating layer (3). A section (8a) of the metallic mating contact member (8) is brought into bearing contact with a conductor track (4) through the connecting opening (6). Welding/soldering of the conductor track (4) to the connecting section (8a) is brought about by radiant heating by means of laser light (9) directed through the light-radiating opening (5).

  • Publication number: 20020000229
Abstract: A method and apparatus in which a granular adsorbent, absorbent, chemisorptive, or catalytic material, particularly activated carbon is intermixed with (a) meltable polymer(s), and that the resulting mixture is heated under pressure and pressed into a molded piece (2). We propose to heat the mixture under pressure in a connecting part for a respirator or fan filter unit or in a connecting part (1) for an adapter for a respirator or fan filter unit, thereby positively and/or non-positively compacting it with said connecting part, and to make the connection between said connecting part (1) and said compacted mixture gastight.

  • Publication number: 20020000485
Abstract: An improved two-stage comminuting and dehydrating system is efficient, environmentally sound, and may be employed to process sticky materials. The system includes a pair of cyclone structures for comminuting and dehydrating. Injection ports are positioned for injection of viscid substances directly into the low pressure region of each cone. The secondary cyclone structure is equipped with a lower exit port. A single blower is coupled with the cyclone structures to form an air flow loop from the primary cone bottom to the secondary cone top and from the secondary cone top to the primary cone top. Airflow for cycling material between the cones is controlled by feedback from moisture and particle size monitoring devices in a collection unit coupled with the secondary cone.

  • Publication number: 20020001045
Abstract: A parallax viewing system is disclosed that permits a viewer to change viewpoints and look around objects by providing the viewer with multiple viewpoints. The parallax viewing system can include a plurality of viewpoints in each viewing direction of a two dimensional display. A viewpoint/parallax generator causes a liquid crystal array to vary its viewing angle over time across a plurality of viewpoints 1 through N, while applying the appropriate image data for the respective viewpoint. The liquid crystal array or other suitable display technology is fabricated with a narrow viewing angle. The liquid crystal material should be selected to handle a wide bias voltage (contrast) variation. Thus, by varying the applied bias voltage, the viewing angle of the display system may be tuned from left to right, for example, by varying the bias voltage. In an illustrative three dimensional implementation, the input image signal is encoded with a left eye (LE) and right eye (RE) image for each viewpoint.

  • Publication number: 20020002008
Abstract: A kinematic coupling includes a male connector (94) and first and second opposed jaws (122, 124.) Each of the jaws is pivotable from a retracted position in which the male connector can be inserted between the jaws and an engaging position in which the jaws prevent withdrawal of the male connector from between the jaws. The male connector is movable between an extended and a retracted position, and is biased towards the retracted position. This provides a positive clamping force when the kinematic coupling is engaged.
