    Abstract: A fluid operated machine vise having a fixed jaw and a movable jaw. The movable jaw includes a hollow spindle threadedly engaged therewith so that upon rotation of the hollow spindle, the movable jaw will be moved toward and away from the fixed jaw. A fluid operated mechanical power amplifier is provided and is connected in association with the movable jaw so that upon application of force by the mechanical power amplifier to the movable jaw, forces greater than would be normally achieved are produced. A stop is provided for limiting the maximum clamping force. The stop limits the effective stroke length of the mechanical power amplifier.

    Abstract: An abutment piece adapted to be inserted into a T slot of a machine table and which bears against a lateral surface of the leg section of the T slot by means of an abutment surface and projects beyond the clamping surface of the machine tool table. The abutment piece has a head portion which projects beyond the clamping surface and the width thereof is greater than the slot width of the leg section. The abutment piece has a neck portion received in the T slot and the width of the neck portion is smaller than the slot width. The head portion has on its side facing away from the abutment surface a bearing surface inclined at 45.degree. with respect to the abutment surface and extends toward the neck portion. The bearing surface engages the chamfered outer edge of the lateral surface of the leg section. A wedge element is provided on the neck portion of the abutment piece and is movable parallel to the abutment surface and perpendicularly to the head portion.

    Abstract: Angle setting mechanism, particularly for vises mounted on the table of a machine tool. There is provided an angle setting mechanism for use with vises, primarily on the table of a machine tool, which indicates a preselected angle with respect to said table. The vise is then aligned with respect to, preferably by contact against, said indicating device and clamped in position. In one preferred form of the vise, a guiding anchor member or slide is provided in the T-slot of the table and a block is positioned pivotally with respect thereto. Angle measuring means are provided therebetween whereby said block may be positioned with respect to said guide at a preselected angle and then clamped in such position. The vise is then brought to bear against said block, positioned with an appropriate face in contact therewith in order that the vise may assume said same angle and said vise is then clamped in position. The indicating device may then be removed if desired.

    Abstract: A clamping device having a hollow spindle screwable in a stationary vise part and a pressure rod axially slidable in the hollow spindle for exerting clamping pressure. A mechanical or hydraulic power amplifier is arranged in a cylindrical housing connected to the hollow spindle. The secondary or driven member of the power amplifier acts onto a pressure rod. The primary member of the power amplifier is acted upon by a driving element which itself is arranged in a compressed air cylinder adjoining the power amplifier housing. An additional mechanical or hydraulic power amplifier is arranged in the compressed air cylinder between the compressed air piston and the aforementioned primary member.
