  • Publication number: 20020078748
Abstract: In order to compensate for a drop in sensitivity at high rotational speeds, an acceleration sensor having an inductive measuring head (T) which cooperates with a moving Ferraris disk (F) essentially over a main magnetic field and which supplies an acceleration-dependent variable (Vdet; V&agr;) is expanded by an additional DC magnetic field excitation circuit (13, 14, IK, RK) with a means for driving the latter with the effect that the additional DC magnetic field acts in a compensating fashion on an eddy-current DC field, starting from a relatively high rotational speed (&ohgr;) of the Ferraris disk (F). This can be performed by amplifying the main magnetic field or by reducing the eddy-current DC field. A control signal (V&ohgr;), dependent on rotational speed, which both can be generated outside the sensor via a characteristic curve, and can be derived in the form of a control loop from the sensor signal (V&agr;), serves as a drive.

  • Patent number: 5497641
Abstract: A door lock for motor vehicles having a control element which is driven by an electric motor, is controlled by an electronic control unit and can be moved, upon a control signal emitted by a transmitter, into a position which at least prepares the opening of the door lock. An energy accumulator, which is independent of the wiring of the motor vehicle and which, as required, can be connected to a signal receiver, is assigned to the electronic control system so that the signal receiver will then activate the control element directly.

  • Patent number: 5467000
Abstract: The present invention provides a current regulating method and associated apparatus for a voltage-injecting converter, wherein a flux-producing current component and a torque-producing current component of an actual current vector are regulated to corresponding components of a required current vector, whereby a precontrol variable is superimposed on each controller manipulated variable. According to the invention, the torque-producing controller manipulated variable acts on the flux-producing controller manipulated variable with delay as a function of a frequency variable, thereby providing a current regulating method which combines the advantages of two-component current regulation and active current regulation. This dual-action current regulation advantageously operates without requiring a structural switch between the two forms of current regulation.

  • Patent number: 5289366
Abstract: An actual value (u.sub.ixRF) of a signal (i.sub.xRF) affected by harmonics may be corrected. A harmonic signal (u.sub.iF) superimposed on the signal (i.sub.xRF) is generated using a harmonic-free setting signal(u.sub.yR), a known pulse pattern (.alpha..sub.1, .alpha..sub.2, ..., .alpha..sub.5) stored in the memory of a modulator, and an equivalent model of the control system. The mean value (u.sub.iF) of this harmonic signal (u.sub.iF) is determined by a second integrating actual value acquisition device. The mean value (u.sub.iF) is subtracted as a correction value from the actual value (u.sub.ixRF), which is affected by errors. In this way, an errorfree actual value (u.sub.ixR) is obtained for a signal (i.sub.xRF), the harmonics of which are not filtered out in the actual value determination by means of an integrating actual value acquisition device.

  • Patent number: 4394847
Abstract: For controlling the rate of supply of water to a watering bowl, a diaphragm valve with a diaphragm is placed in the water connection system, one side of the diaphragm resting against a barrel-like part, the space within the barrel being joined up, for example, with the bowl while the space round the barrel on the same side of the diaphragm is joined up with the water inlet so that, when the diaphragm is moved clear of the end of the barrel, water may make its way from the inlet into the bowl. On the opposite side of the valve diaphragm there is a pilot control space into which water may make its way through a small hole in the diaphragm and out of the pilot control space into the bowl through a pilot valve system in the form of an opening and a moving pilot valve which is worked by a lever or the like in the bowl, by a float or by a pilot diaphragm acted upon by the liquid level in the bowl.

  • Patent number: 4359295
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for spanning expansion gaps in bridge decks or roadways. The invention provides a small, simple and low cost edge channel member of U-shape which may be welded to one type or a variety of different commericially available steel sections in accordance with any particular needs. Screws accessible from above are provided to retain the edge portions of an elongate body of flexible resilient elastomeric material which spans the expansion gap. Thus, the invention permits the installation of expansion joints for any desired thickness of the wearing course and any type of fastening to the concrete base course.

  • Patent number: 4115174
Abstract: A method of applying miniaturized high-temperature free-grid strain gauges to a test location by welding an auxiliary temporary backing to a strain gauge equipped with supporting or backing foil and connecting excess-length connecting webs thereto for manipulation of the gauge. Thereafter, the strain gauge is adhered, grid side facing downwardly, to a porous backing by means of an adhesive, the backing foil is then stripped off and the adhesive dissolved by a chemical solvent. The strain gauge is then applied to the test location and affixed thereto.

  • Patent number: 4036601
Abstract: A turbine blade includes a core made of a highly heat-resistant alloy and a highly heat-resistant, nonporous, corrosion-resistant, metallic protective cover fitted onto the core. The cover forms a gas-tight metallurgical bond with the core and has great strength, high ductility and a uniform layer thickness. The process includes the steps of preshaping a core of highly heat-resistant material and fitting the preshaped core into a substantially preshaped, corrosion-resistant and highly heat-resistant cover. The cover is welded to the core at a point which during later use is subjected only to little stress to form a vacuum-tight seal and workpiece. The workpiece is heated in a pressure vessel to a temperature of at least 1000.degree. C, and the cover of the heated workpiece is heat-welded to the core by isotactic hot-pressing without the formation of pores.
