  • Publication number: 20070146773
Abstract: A system includes a multifunction peripheral device. The multifunction peripheral device provides scanning, printing, copying, and faxing functionality. A wide area network is communicatively connected to the multifunction peripheral device and a remote device. A local area network is communicatively connected to the multifunction peripheral device and a plurality of local workstations. The multifunction peripheral device provides an interface between the wide area network and the local area network.

  • Publication number: 20070135224
Abstract: A portable putting game is discussed whereas one to four players compete in three unique games to get the best score. Each player chooses from four colored balls (red, white, yellow, blue) and attempts to score points by aiming at a Bulls Eye Target, which surrounds a hole. Bumper edge rails are used to keep the balls on the playfield and can be used for strategic trick shots. The game can be easily set up in many configurations indoors or outdoors depending on the space available to play by using interlocking base puzzle pieces and bumper edge rails. In addition the game can be easily taken apart and stored in a carry all bag that will allow the players to take the game anywhere.

  • Publication number: 20050233085
Abstract: A sample collection substrate of aerogel and/or xerogel materials bound to a support structure is used as a solid phase microextraction (SPME) device. The xerogels and aerogels may be organic or inorganic and doped with metals or other compounds to target specific chemical analytes. The support structure is typically formed of a glass fiber or a metal wire (stainless steel or kovar). The devices are made by applying gel solution to the support structures and drying the solution to form aerogel or xerogel. Aerogel particles may be attached to the wet layer before drying to increase sample collection surface area. These devices are robust, stable in fields of high radiation, and highly effective at collecting gas and liquid samples while maintaining superior mechanical and thermal stability during routine use. Aerogel SPME devices are advantageous for use in GC/MS analyses due to their lack of interfering background and tolerance of GC thermal cycling.

  • Publication number: 20050008690
Abstract: A multi-compartment capsule, comprising, a first receiving chamber comprising at least one ingredient having a first physical state, wherein said ingredient is selected from the group consisting of a nutraceutical, a vitamin, a dietary supplement and a mineral; and a second receiving chamber comprising at least one ingredient having a second physical state, wherein said ingredient is selected from the group consisting of a nutraccutical, a vitamin, a dietary supplement and a mineral; wherein said first physical state of said ingredient of said first receiving chamber being different from said second physical state of said ingredient of said second receiving chamber; and said ingredient of said first receiving chamber being different from said ingredient of said second receiving chamber.

  • Patent number: 6189807
Abstract: A spraying system having a control valve with an inlet port for connection to a liquid supply, a discharge port for connection to a spray nozzle, and a return port for connection to the liquid supply. The control valve includes a valve member which has a liquid flow passageway and is movable between an open position in which the liquid flow passageway communicates between the inlet and discharge ports for permitting the direction of pressurized liquid to the spray nozzle and a second position which prevents the flow of pressurized liquid to the discharge port. The spray nozzle has an associated pressure responsive check valve for preventing the flow of liquid to the spray nozzle, and hence for preventing drippage, upon movement of the control valve member to the off position.

  • Patent number: 5762066
Abstract: A High Intensity Focused Ultrasound system is provided for treatment of focal disease. The preferred embodiment includes an intracavity probe having two active ultrasound radiating surfaces with different focal geometries. Selectively energizing the first surface focuses therapeutic energy a first distance from the housing, energizing the second surface focuses therapeutic energy nearer the housing. Preferably, the probe includes a thin, flexible, inelastic membrane which is rigidized with pressure to allow blunt manipulation of tissue. Methods of use of the probe are also provided, particularly for treatment of diseases of the prostate.

  • Patent number: 5681043
Abstract: An apparatus providing a novel challenge to skill and dexterity includes a projectile and a deformable container having a drive medium contained therein. The deformable container is in fluid communication with a launch member, such that deformation of the container is communicated to the launch member, thereby causing the launch member to impact the projectile. Deformation may be caused by physical pressure applied by an operator. In this case, when an operator strikes the deformable container, it is compressed, forcing the drive medium, which may be air, to the launch member, which may be a piston, causing the launch member to strike a game ball, sending it toward the target. The deformable container may comprise resilient and rigid foam. Alternatively, a plurality of independently compressible containers, each actuating a separate piston or other launch member may be provided.

  • Patent number: 4066140
Abstract: A plurality of mounts carry a weighbridge or platform. Each mount has a transducer that carries the mounts portion of the load and indicates weight by strain in shear. The weighbridge loads a horizontal cross pin. The pin, in turn, loads a link that loads a second, integrally connected link. The second link loads the middle of the transducer of the mount in shear. The transducer and cross pin lie orthogonally. The ground rigidly supports the ends of the transducer. The links coupling the transducer and cross pin transmit only vertical forces to the transducer to load the latter only in shear and permit horizontal movement of the weighbridge.
