Abstract: Among other disclosure, an operating system that presents one or more advertisements to a user. The operating system can disable one or more functions while the advertisement is being presented. At the end of the advertisement, the operating system can again enable the function(s). The advertisement can be visual or audible. The presentation of the advertisement(s) can be made as part of an approach where the user obtains a good or service, such as the operating system, for free or at reduced cost.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products display invites on a mobile device calendar. An invitation is received that identifies an event having a start time and a duration. The invitation is presented to a user of a mobile device, where the mobile device includes two or more calendars. The invitation is associated with at least one of the two or more calendars, and the event is displayed in at least one calendar associated with the invitation.

Abstract: Techniques for processing task items are provided. A task item is electronic data that represents a task to be performed, whether manually or automatically. A task item includes one or more details about its corresponding task, such as a description of the task and a location of the task. Specifically, techniques for generating task items, organizing task items, triggering notifications of task items, and consuming task items are described. In one approach, a task item is generated based on input from a user and context of the input. In another approach, different attributes of task items are used to organize the task items intelligently into multiple lists. In another approach, actions other than the generation of notification are enabled or automatically performed, actions such as entailing, calling, texting, and searching.

Abstract: Operating a radio receiver can include identifying a set of stations that broadcast a radio program using different frequencies or different transmission protocols at substantially the same time. Broadcast signal strength, or some other signal quality metric, of broadcast signals from the stations can be evaluated, and the radio receiver can be tuned to one of the stations in the set of stations based on the evaluation.

Abstract: A user equipment communications device is configured to provide personal content to a party to a call with a user of the device, when the user places the party on hold. The device determines that the party has been placed on hold and that the user has enabled sharing of personal content with the party. The device then transmits a visual menu to a communications device of the party via a data network, to allow the party to select a type of personal content to receive from the device while the party is on hold. When the device receives a selection from the party's device indicating the type of personal content, it transmits a personal information asset to the party's device according to the type of personal content indicated by the selection. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A mobile device receives a radio simulcast of streaming data and content. The mobile device extracts metadata from the radio simulcast. The mobile device identifies a communication channel to a content provider by comparing components of the metadata with reference data. The mobile device presents a user interface for connecting to the content provider through the communication channel. The mobile device also records the metadata with a time stamp and provides a user interface for displaying the data and time of content received.
