Abstract: Described are methods for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of articles subjected to the action of aqueous hypochlorite bleach compositions by adding perfume aroma augmenting or enhancing quantities of aliphatic C.sub.10 -branched olefin epoxide-containing mixtures produced by dimerizing isoamylene, (2-methyl-2-butene) and then epoxidizing the resulting product to aqueous alkali metal hypochlorite bleach compositions containing a stabilizing and emulsifying quantity of at least one compound having the structure: ##STR1## wherein at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents C.sub.10 -C.sub.12 branched or straight chain alkyl and when one of R.sub.1 or R.sub.2 is C.sub.10 -C.sub.12 branched or straight chain alkyl, the other of R.sub.1 or R.sub.2 is hydrogen and wherein M.sub..alpha. and M.sub..beta.

Abstract: Described is the genus of compounds defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same or different and each represents methyl or hydrogen with the proviso that one of R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is methyl and the other two of R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen which have been found to be useful in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfumes and perfumed articles as well as colognes and, in addition, in combatting tobacco beetles of the species Lasioderma serricorne (F.). Also described are novel processes for preparing such cyclohexyl phenethylether derivatives by reacting cyclohexene having the structure: ##STR2## with a phenethyl alcohol derivative having the structure: ##STR3## in the presence of an acid catalyst.

Abstract: Described is a process for preparing hydrogenated derivatives of 2,6,6-trimethyl cyclohexene derivatives by means of treating said derivatives with hydrogen in the presence of a supported palladium catalyst such as palladium-on-calcium carbonate or palladium-on-barium sulfate in the presence of a quinoline activator. The resulting products are useful for their organoleptic properties as foodstuff flavorants and flavor enhancers, perfume composition ingredients, perfumed article ingredients and tobacco flavorants and flavor enhancers.

Abstract: Described is the use for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles of a derivative of a 2-oxabicyclo [2.2.2]octane which is 1,3,5,5-tetramethyl-2-oxabicyclo [2.2.2]octane.

Abstract: Described are 2,4,6-Trimethylcyclohexanemethanol derivatives having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein the dashed line represents a carbon-carbon single bond or a carbon-carbon double bond and R is hydrogen or acetyl. The 2,4,6-Trimethylcyclohexanemethanol and derivatives thereof are useful in perfumery and foodstuff, medicinal product and smoking tobacco flavors.

Abstract: Described are processes for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a smoking tobacco comprising the step of intimately admixing with smoking tobacco an aroma or taste augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one substance selected from the group consisting of:A. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, trans-2-hexenal, and cis-3-hexenol;B. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal;C. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenol, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal; andD. Cis-3-hexenyl methyl ether.Also described are smoking tobacco compositions produced according to the above process.
