  • Patent number: 9383242
Abstract: A method for determining fluid characteristics of a multicomponent fluid is provided. The method includes a step of measuring a first density, ?1, of a multicomponent fluid comprising one or more incompressible components and one or more compressible components at a first density state. The method further includes a step of adjusting the multicomponent fluid from the first density state to a second density state. A second density, ?2, of the multicomponent fluid is then measured at the second density state and one or more fluid characteristics of at least one of the compressible components or the incompressible components are determined.

  • Publication number: 20160068230
Abstract: A buoyancy vehicle operable to navigate on a fluid from a sitting and reclined position. The vehicle provides facilitated access and operational control to propulsion and navigational systems that can be operated from a sitting or reclined position. Consequently, a user who cannot stand or perform rigorous physical activity may operate the buoyancy vehicle. The buoyancy vehicle comprises at least one buoyant member configured to float on the fluid with sufficient buoyancy to support the vehicle and the operator. A frame portion attaches to the buoyant member. The frame portion is generally tubular and sufficiently lightweight and/or hollow, so as to enhance the buoyancy of the vehicle. A center board retractably extends from a bottom surface of the frame portion. A seat is configured to support an operator and/or a load, and enable easy access to the navigational and propulsion systems for operating the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9095840
Abstract: An activated carbon material for removing a contaminant from a liquid. The activated carbon material can be a plurality carbon grains that have a pore volume of approximately 0.1 milliliters per gram (mL/g) in the range of less than about 15 angstroms in width. The carbon grains can also have or contain a nitrogen-containing species having a concentration of more than 2 atomic percent nitrogen. A plurality of the carbon grains can be used to make a contactor that is operable to remove or reduce perchlorate having a concentration of 20 parts per billion (ppb) to less than 4 ppb from 4,500 bed volumes of water with the nitrogen-containing species leaching off of the carbon grains less than 0.1 mg/L. The activated carbon material can also be electrochemically regenerated.

  • Publication number: 20120271645
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to the automatic ordering of replacement parts in product servicing. One aspect of the invention concerns a service system including multiple components, a service initiator for identifying a component in the system that has failed or does not operate according to a service threshold, and determining whether the identified component needs a replacement part based on the service threshold. The service system automatically orders a replacement part if the replacement part is needed and notifies a user of the part order. The service threshold may be dynamically adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20090174232
Abstract: A stool includes a collapsible frame, a triangular seat and a back. The frame includes a bottom hub with three telescopingly adjustable legs and enlarged feet. A top hub is rotatably coupled to the bottom hub for 360 degree rotation, and includes three seat-supporting arms that extend from the top hub, and a pair of uprights that extend from two of the arms. The seat hook-attaches to loops on ends of the arms, and the back extends between the uprights. The legs and arms are pivoted to their respective hubs, but the pivots are slightly frictional so that the arms and legs remain in adjusted positions, with stops on the hubs stopping the legs and arms in their upwardly-pivoted use positions. The frictional pivots include lubricious plastic that facilitates quiet unfolding of the stool, which is important when hunting.

  • Patent number: 7188156
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a method, a system and a computer program product for selecting data to be presented in a report form. A selector window is displayed to a user, the selector window displaying periods of time for indicating those periods of time for which data is available. The periods of time are displayed as a stack of temporally aligned time lines that are each partitioned into time periods of different duration, where each partition of a given time line has a spatial extent that differs from the spatial extent of partitions of other time lines, with longer partitions encompassing a plurality of shorter partitions. In response to the user selecting a point on a time line, the method, system and computer program product displays a report of that data.

  • Patent number: 6667743
Abstract: A system and method for graphically displaying data from a plurality of selected data sets on a computer system including a display is disclosed. Each selected data set has a plurality of values corresponding to a plurality of parameter values. The method and system include determining a plurality of average values for a plurality of intervals. The plurality of average values are determined for each selected data set. Each of the plurality of average values is determined from a portion of the plurality of values. The portion of the plurality of values correspond to an interval of the plurality of intervals. Each of the plurality of intervals includes a portion of the plurality of parameter values. The method and system further include plotting the average value for each of the plurality of intervals on the display for each selected data set. The average value is depicted as a first symbol.

  • Patent number: 6470464
Abstract: A system and method of monitoring and analyzing the performance of a computer system and its components in a data processing network and for proposing changes to the network to improve the performance. The system involves identifying undesirable conditions (sometimes called bottlenecks) in the system, determining which bottlenecks are the most severe in affecting the performance of the system and in proposing changes to the components of the system to improve performance of the network. The present invention uses historical data and forecasting techniques to predict bottlenecks which have not occurred yet but which can be expected, so that further bottlenecks can be projected, along with a prediction interval to indicate the confidence of the prediction. The further projections and the prediction interval are provided in a graph which is available to the user over the Internet, if desired, using HTML and hot links.
