  • Patent number: 10028160
Abstract: A method in a network node for handling evaluation of a secondary cell for a wireless device. The method comprises establishing a first level of coverage of the secondary cell, based on a first measurement report received from the wireless device, which first measurement report relates to a quality of a signal of the secondary cell. The method further comprises determining an evaluation frequency, based on the established first level of coverage of the secondary cell, which evaluation frequency relates to how frequently a level of coverage of the secondary cell shall be evaluated. The method further comprises sending a configuration to the wireless device, which configuration relates to an evaluation of a second level of coverage of the secondary cell, and which configuration is based on the determined evaluation frequency.

  • Patent number: 10021608
Abstract: A method in a radio network node for determining whether a wireless device is a suitable candidate for handover to a target cell for load balancing reasons. The radio network node serves a source cell. The method includes determining a first level of coverage of the target cell based on a first measurement report. The method further includes storing measurement data obtained from a second measurement, being at least one of a layer 2 and a layer 1 measurement. The method further includes establishing a correlation between the determined first level of coverage and the stored measurement data and updating statistical data based on the established correlation. The method further includes determining whether the wireless device is a suitable candidate for handover to the target cell for load balancing reasons, based on the updated statistical data.

  • Patent number: 10003980
Abstract: A radio base station and a method therein for management of neighbor relations with respect to neighboring radio base stations are provided. The radio base station is connected to an Operation and Maintenance, O&M system requesting performance measurement data relating to the neighbor relations from the radio base station. The radio base station 200, 300, 400 is configured to associate each neighbor relation with a predefined first or a predefined second neighbor relation type, wherein the first neighbor relation type indicates that the neighbor relation is to be monitored and the second neighbor relation type indicates that the neighbor relation is to be unmonitored. The base station is further configured to collect performance measurement data relating to mobility for neighbor relations associated with the first neighbor relation type, and to send the collected performance measurement data only for neighbor relations associated with the first neighbor relation type to the O&M system.

  • Patent number: 9999086
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and arrangements for re-establishing packet data transfer between a radio base station and a wireless device following radio link failure, the radio base station having pre-configured wireless device information. The RBS receives a request for re-establishment of the radio link from the wireless device. One or more DRBs are selected for re-establishment based on the pre-configured wireless device information. The RBS transmits a radio link re-establishment response to the wireless device comprising information about the selected one or more DRBs. The selected one or more DRBs are re-established upon receipt of a re-establishment confirmation from the wireless device, whereupon packet data transfer is resumed.

  • Patent number: 9992720
Abstract: A method in a base station (110) for enabling the base station (110) to identify a neighboring base station (120) is provided. A request is being sent (303) to a user equipment (130), commanding it to send an identification requesting message to the neighboring base station (120). In response to reception of the sent identification requesting message, a neighboring base station identifier that is associated with and identifies the neighboring base station (120), is received (303). Thereby the base station (110) is enabled to identify the neighboring base station (120). By receipt of the neighboring base station identifier, the base station becomes aware of and is enabled to contact, or connect with, the neighboring base station more directly, without the need of doing it through the user equipment. This can be done at some later point in time, for example in order to request the neighboring base station to perform handover measurements with regard to the same or another user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9980201
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a base-station-to-base-station (BS-BS) gateway in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular communication network and methods of operation thereof. In one embodiment, the BS-BS gateway receives information from a first base station which includes a hostname and a network address of the first base station. The BS-BS gateway then stores a mapping between the hostname and the network address. Thereafter, in one embodiment, the BS-BS gateway enables a second base station to address messages to the first base station using the hostname of the first base station. In this manner, changes in the network address of the first base station will not affect the ability of the second base station to address messages to the first base station. In some embodiments, the first base station is a low-power base station (LP-BS) and the second base station is a high-power base station (HP-BS).

  • Publication number: 20180063692
Abstract: Identification of network nodes (110a-c) of a first Radio Access Technology, “RAT”, and of a wireless communication network (100), which network nodes (110a-c) are at least potentially neighboring each other. Multiple information sets associated with multiple communication devices (120a-c), respectively, are obtained (204a-b; 401). Each communication device (120a-c) supports both the first RAT and another, second RAT. Each information set, thus associated with a communication device (120a), identifies a network node (110a) of the first RAT, and one or more network nodes (111a) of the second RAT that have been identified by the communication device (120a) when the communication device (120a) was associated with a communicative connection to said identified network node (110a) of the first RAT. The network nodes (110a-b) of the first RAT that are at least potentially neighboring each other are then identified (205; 402) based on the obtained multiple information sets.

  • Patent number: 9907099
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method in a relay node for acquiring information about a type of a radio network connection between a donor radio base station and a radio base station. The relay node and the donor radio base station are comprised in a radio communications network and the donor radio base station is serving the relay node. The relay node receives a message from the donor radio base station, which message is indicating a type of radio network application protocol, which type is related to a type of the radio network connection between the donor radio base station and the radio base station. The relay node determines the type of the radio network connection based on the type of radio network application protocol indicated in the message. The relay node also stores the type of radio network connection in relation to the radio base station for selecting the type of radio network connection when later communicating with the radio base station.

  • Publication number: 20180041868
Abstract: A method performed by a network node or a wireless communications device for determining a reporting threshold related to proximity based positioning in a wireless communications network. For each of a plurality of candidate reporting thresholds the network node or the wireless communications device calculates a corresponding localization accuracy metric based on a deployment information related to a deployment of the wireless communications network, an evaluation position related to the evaluation of a received signal, a propagation model relating the evaluation position and the evaluation of the received signal, and the respective candidate reporting threshold. The network node or the wireless communications device then determines the reporting threshold based on the plurality of corresponding localization accuracy metrics.

  • Patent number: 9888400
Abstract: A method in a radio network node is disclosed for handling positioning data in a radio communications network, which radio network node serves a user equipment in a cell. The radio network node obtains positioning data from the user equipment, which positioning data is associated with a positioning measurement for positioning the user equipment. The radio network node associates the obtained positioning data with an on-going trace session of the user equipment. The radio network node then sends a trace record to a network management node, which trace record includes information associated with the positioning data.

  • Publication number: 20180031388
Abstract: Techniques of altitude determination by user equipment (UE) in a mobile communications network are discussed. A request for calibration data is transmitted to a node of the network. Barometric calibration data is received at the UE. A barometric pressure sensor in the UE measures a barometric pressure value based on the barometric calibration data. Measuring the barometric pressure value using the barometric pressure sensor in an embodiment comprises adjusting a measured barometric pressure value that is measured using the barometric pressure sensor. The barometric pressure value is transmitted to the node. The UE receives a second part of the barometric calibration data, and in dependence of the second part of the barometric calibration data and/or in dependence of the measured barometric pressure value, determines an altitude of the user equipment.
