  • Publication number: 20050022947
Abstract: An improved Venetian blind type window covering having an open position and a closed position is provided. When in a closed position, the window covering presents a face that conceals a securement member and an adjustment member. The window covering also includes a bottom rail, and a plurality of slats between the head rail and the bottom rail. The securement member and the adjustment member, in cooperation, are suitable for adjustably moving or tilting the plurality of blind slats to open and close the window covering. A blind slat tilting mechanism causes positional adjustment of the plurality of blind slats by raising and lowering at least the adjusting member.

  • Publication number: 20050006033
Abstract: A window shade comprising a plurality of collapsible shade rows. Each of the shade rows being adjustable from a closed state to an opened state by an operating mechanism, and including a stiff first transverse region and an opposed second transverse region having a stiffened edge portion. When in the closed state, the window covering includes no or minimal gaps between the rows so that light is substantially or completely blocked. Also, the securement and opening members are also concealed from view when observed from the front or face of the window covering. The operating mechanism causes the narrowing of the rows by drawing the first transverse region and the opposed second transverse region closer together. The operating mechanism further causes the rows to be pivotally rotated to further widen opening in the window covering.

  • Publication number: 20040185229
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cellular structure for use in honeycomb window shades having plurality of rows forming a single column of double cells, which forms a uniformly pleated appearance for the face and rear of the cellular structure. Each of the plurality of rows of double cells is constructed of a longitudinal strip of material having a greater width portion and a limiting member portion. The limiting member portion serves to restrict the extent to which any row may be stretched. The present invention further relates to a method for making the cellular structure.

  • Publication number: 20040079493
Abstract: A cellular structure such as a honeycomb window treatment and method for making the cellular structure is provided by securing a plurality of rows of elongated cells to one another. Each of the plurality of rows is constructed by providing a first longitudinally extending length of material. This first material includes a first surface and a second surface. The first material further includes a lesser width portion and a greater width portion. A second longitudinally extending length of material is also provided. The second material also includes a first surface and a second surface of the first material. The second surface of the second material is secured to the first surface over the greater width portion of the first material along a plurality longitudinally extending locations, preferably defined by glue or adhesive lines, on the second surface of the second material to form a row.
