Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for detection and avoidance of interference in a telecommunications network. In one example, a cable modem termination system (CMTS) is configured to receive upstream traffic from a plurality of cable modems. The CMTS detects collision characteristics resulting from substantially simultaneous transmissions from different combinations of the cable modems. Based on the detected collision characteristics, the CMTS designates/identifies collision groups for each of a plurality of the cable modems. After designation of the collision groups, the CMTS schedules upstream transmissions by the plurality of cable modems such that cable modems within the same collision group do not transmit within a same time frame and such that two or more cable modems that are not within the same collision group may transmit within a same time frame.

The gate stack includes a dielectric layer disposed on the substrate, a first capping layer disposed on the dielectric layer, a second capping layer disposed on the first capping layer, and a gate electrode layer covering the second capping layer. The first capping layer having a roughened surface may enhance the formation of the second capping layer. The second capping layer has a bottom portion and a sidewall portion, and the thickness of the bottom portion is formed to be greater than the thickness of the sidewall portion, so that the dielectric property of the second capping layer may be significantly improved. Further, a method for manufacturing the semiconductor device also provides herein.

Abstract: In some implementations, an IP address can be configured for a computing device using an out-of-band communication channel. For example, a system administrator can configure a system controller (e.g., baseband management controller) with an IP address using an out-of-band communication channel. In some implementations, the system controller can be configured with the IP address when the computing device is powered down. The system controller can store the IP address in memory associated with the system controller. In some implementations, an operating system of the computing device can be configured with an agent (e.g., process, application, utility) that will request the IP address from the system controller and configure the computing device to use the IP address. For example, the operating system agent can use various operating system commands to configure the IP address for the computing device based on the IP address received from the system controller.

Abstract: In some implementations, network interface controller (NIC) configuration information can be obtained from a NIC prior to booting up an operating system. For example, a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) can obtain the NIC configuration information from the NIC during the execution of a system check (e.g., Power-On Self-Test). A system controller can receive the NIC configuration information from the BIOS. The system controller can store the NIC configuration information in memory associated with the system controller. A management system can request the NIC configuration information from the system controller using an out-of-band communication channel. For example, the management system can send the request for NIC configuration information to the system controller prior to powering on a server using a dedicated network interface of the system controller.

Abstract: One embodiment of the invention includes a coax media converter (CMC) system communicatively coupled to at least one modem in a network system. The system includes a frequency reference configured to generate a clock signal in a local time domain. The system also includes a scheduling processor configured to extract a bandwidth allocation message from a data stream and to re-stamp each of at least one timestamp in the bandwidth allocation message in the local time domain based on the clock signal to generate a corresponding updated bandwidth allocation message comprising a respective at least one re-stamped timestamp. The system further includes a downstream physical interface configured to transmit the updated bandwidth allocation message to the at least one modem to schedule upstream burst transmissions from the respective at least modem based on the at least one re-stamped timestamp.

Abstract: A computer system and a method for setting basic input/output system (BIOS) are disclosed. The computer system comprises a remote computer and servers. The remote computer transmits a setting command. Each of the servers comprises a first management unit and a motherboard. The motherboard comprises a storage device and a processor. The storage device stores the BIOS. The processor executes the BIOS. The processor communicates with the first management unit to determine whether the BIOS configuration needs to be updated after the server rebooted. The processor updates the BIOS according to the setting command when the BIOS configuration must to be updated.

Abstract: A power converting device includes a filter filtering an AC input voltage to generate a filtered voltage, a power factor corrector boosting the filtered voltage to generate a boosted voltage, and a step-down converter reducing the boosted voltage to generate a DC output voltage. The power factor corrector includes a capacitor, an inductor, two diodes and two switches. The inductor has a first terminal coupled to the filter, and a second terminal. The diodes are coupled in series across the capacitor. A common node between the diodes is coupled to the second terminal of the inductor. The switches are coupled in series across the capacitor. A voltage across one of the switches serves as the boosted voltage.

Abstract: A high-temperature gas-cooled reactor steam generating system comprises a plurality of nuclear steam supply systems, a high-pressure cylinder (21), a low-pressure cylinder (22), a condenser (23), a condensate pump (24), a low-pressure heater (25), a deaerator (26), a water supply pump (27), and a high-pressure heater (28) which are sequentially connected end to end to form a close steam loop. On one hand, the inherent safety of the reactor is guaranteed and the generating system is simplified with the inherent safety. On the other hand, the scale economy of the steam engine system and other systems of a whole power station is guaranteed through batch copy, a shared auxiliary system and a scale effect.

The carrier tape includes a package surface and defines a number of receiving grooves in the package surface and arranged along a length direction of the carrier tape. The separation pads are received in the receiving grooves and fixed to bottom surfaces of the receiving grooves respectively. Each separation pad includes a separation surface opposite to a bottom surface of the corresponding receiving groove and a number of protrusions protruding up from the separation surface. The workpieces are respectively received in the receiving grooves. Each workpiece includes a main body and an adhesive layer positioned between the corresponding separation pad and the main body. The package tape is adhered to the package surface and seals the receiving grooves.

Abstract: A hybrid error correction method and a memory repair apparatus thereof are provided for a dynamic random access memory (DRAM). The memory repair apparatus includes a mode register and a hybrid error correction code and redundancy (HEAR) module. When the DRAM enters a standby mode, the mode register switches the DRAM to be controlled by the HEAR module. The HEAR module generates parity data of the error correction code within a default refresh period. The HEAR module extends the refresh period of the DRAM and uses the parity data for error detection to locate a data retention error in the DRAM until the maximum allowable refresh period supported by the HEAR module is reached. Before the DRAM returns to a working mode from a standby mode, the HEAR module performs an error correction process according to fail bit data and writes corrected data into the DRAM.
