    Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for detection and avoidance of interference in a telecommunications network. In one example, a cable modem termination system (CMTS) is configured to receive upstream traffic from a plurality of cable modems. The CMTS detects collision characteristics resulting from substantially simultaneous transmissions from different combinations of the cable modems. Based on the detected collision characteristics, the CMTS designates/identifies collision groups for each of a plurality of the cable modems. After designation of the collision groups, the CMTS schedules upstream transmissions by the plurality of cable modems such that cable modems within the same collision group do not transmit within a same time frame and such that two or more cable modems that are not within the same collision group may transmit within a same time frame.

    Abstract: In some implementations, an IP address can be configured for a computing device using an out-of-band communication channel. For example, a system administrator can configure a system controller (e.g., baseband management controller) with an IP address using an out-of-band communication channel. In some implementations, the system controller can be configured with the IP address when the computing device is powered down. The system controller can store the IP address in memory associated with the system controller. In some implementations, an operating system of the computing device can be configured with an agent (e.g., process, application, utility) that will request the IP address from the system controller and configure the computing device to use the IP address. For example, the operating system agent can use various operating system commands to configure the IP address for the computing device based on the IP address received from the system controller.

    Abstract: In some implementations, network interface controller (NIC) configuration information can be obtained from a NIC prior to booting up an operating system. For example, a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) can obtain the NIC configuration information from the NIC during the execution of a system check (e.g., Power-On Self-Test). A system controller can receive the NIC configuration information from the BIOS. The system controller can store the NIC configuration information in memory associated with the system controller. A management system can request the NIC configuration information from the system controller using an out-of-band communication channel. For example, the management system can send the request for NIC configuration information to the system controller prior to powering on a server using a dedicated network interface of the system controller.

    Abstract: A power converting device includes a filter filtering an AC input voltage to generate a filtered voltage, a power factor corrector boosting the filtered voltage to generate a boosted voltage, and a step-down converter reducing the boosted voltage to generate a DC output voltage. The power factor corrector includes a capacitor, an inductor, two diodes and two switches. The inductor has a first terminal coupled to the filter, and a second terminal. The diodes are coupled in series across the capacitor. A common node between the diodes is coupled to the second terminal of the inductor. The switches are coupled in series across the capacitor. A voltage across one of the switches serves as the boosted voltage.

    Abstract: A hybrid error correction method and a memory repair apparatus thereof are provided for a dynamic random access memory (DRAM). The memory repair apparatus includes a mode register and a hybrid error correction code and redundancy (HEAR) module. When the DRAM enters a standby mode, the mode register switches the DRAM to be controlled by the HEAR module. The HEAR module generates parity data of the error correction code within a default refresh period. The HEAR module extends the refresh period of the DRAM and uses the parity data for error detection to locate a data retention error in the DRAM until the maximum allowable refresh period supported by the HEAR module is reached. Before the DRAM returns to a working mode from a standby mode, the HEAR module performs an error correction process according to fail bit data and writes corrected data into the DRAM.
