    Abstract: A method for bonding valve seats for intake and exhaust valves to an engine cylinder head. Valve seats are brazed to an aluminum cylinder head using an Al--Zn type brazing material and a fluoride type flux. The brazing material contains 70 to 90 % by weight of Zn. The brazing is preferably carried out at a temperature of 470.degree. to 520.degree. C. To allow the brazing material and flux to be present between the cylinder head and each valve seat, the cylinder head contains U-grooves formed around the opening of each intake or exhaust port. The U-groove consists of an annular step formed along the opening of the intake or exhaust port and a bank extended along the inner circumference of the step. The valve seats are placed in the U-grooves, which are then filled with the brazing material and flux, to carry out brazing of the valve seats onto the cylinder head. After completion of the brazing, the banks are removed to complete bonding of the valve seats to the cylinder head.

    Abstract: A brightening chemical polishing solution for a hardened steel article (e.g., a carburized and quenched gear) comprises hydrofluoric acid having a molar concentration of from 0.2 to 2 mol/l, hydrogen peroxide having a molar concentration of from 0.4 to 4 mol/l, and water, a molar ratio of the hydrofluoric acid to the hydrogen peroxide being from 1:1.5 to 1:2.8. The steel article is quench hardened and is chemically polished in the solution. A shot-peening is additionally performed, prior to the polishing.

The crystalline compound has a melting point of 440.degree. to 580.degree. C.The brazing flux is non-corrosive and safe to use, and well suited for a brazing aluminum materials with a high magnesium content and also for torch brazing.

    Abstract: A riflescope including means for correcting the ballistic trajectory corresponding to the bullets being used. A magnification alteration ring drives a zoom lens system by a rotatable cam cylinder. An axially slidable cam member is coaxially rotatably mounted on the cam cylinder and in cammed engagement with said magnification alteration ring for effecting axial sliding thereof in accordance with the rotation of the magnification alteration ring, and the cam member is prevented from rotating during axial sliding thereof. The cam member has a plurality of sloped surfaces on the outer face thereof extending in a direction parallel to the axis of the cam member, one sloped surface for each different type of bullet to be used, and the sloped surfaces being adjacent the free end of the lens tube holding the zoom lens system. A changeover ring is rotatably mounted on the outside of the riflescope tube for stepwise rotation therearound and engaged with the cam member for effecting stepwise rotation of the cam member.

    Abstract: A mechanism for longitudinally shifting a shiftable lens group in a zoom lens system, including a lever pivotally mounted in a frame having a rotatable pin on each end thereof, a terminal member mounted on the movable lens group having a groove therein extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lens system with one of the pins riding in the groove, a shift bar mounted in the frame movable only in parallel with the axis having a groove in one end thereof extending perpendicular to the axis with the other pin of the lever riding in the groove, and a rotatable mechanism in the frame for moving the shift bar longitudinally so that, upon such movement, the engagement of the pin in the groove of the bar pivots the levers so that the engagement of the other pin in the groove of the terminal member shifts the lens group longitudinally.

One of the side walls of the groove near the one pin is inclined such that the engagement between the lug and the groove can be released by rotating the caliper around the one pin.
