  • Publication number: 20090234797
Abstract: A device is connectable to a computer using a data string based on the SCSI standard. The device includes a mode switching section configured to switch the device to one of a first mode and a second mode in which an access to the storage device with a standard SCSI commands is permitted and prohibited, respectively. When the standard SCSI command is received and the device is in the first mode, the physical storage area of the data storage section is accessed on the basis of the SCSI command. When the standard SCSI command is received and the device is in the second mode, a pseudo response is transmitted to the computer, which indicates that no storage medium is mounted. When a particular SCSI command is received, the file is accessed through a file system provided in the device based on the particular SCSI command.

  • Publication number: 20090094322
Abstract: A thumbnail distribution system includes a client device and a server communicatable with each other by using a hyper text transfer protocol (HTTP). A client device includes a request generating unit, a request transmitting unit, a response receiving unit, and a data processing unit. The request generating unit generates an HTTP request having a request line storing a file name of a file store in a storing unit. The request transmitting unit transmits the HTTP request. The response receiving unit receives an HTTP response having a response body storing a thumbnail corresponding to the file having the file name stored in the request line. The data processing unit performs a data processing based on the thumbnail stored in the response body. The request receiving unit receives the HTTP request transmitted from the request transmitting unit. The response generating unit generates the HTTP response based on the HTTP request.

  • Publication number: 20090063722
Abstract: A device is connectable to a computer and recognized by the computer as a USB multi function device capable of functioning as a USB storage device and an additional device. The device includes a mode switching section configured to switch the device to one of a first mode and a second mode in which an access from the computer to a USB storage device is permitted and prohibited, respectively. When the device is in the first mode, the device accesses the physical storage area of the data storage section. When the device is in the second mode, the device transmits a pseudo response to the computer. The pseudo response indicates that no storage medium is mounted to the data storage section. When a particular data string different from the standard data string is received, the device accesses a file through a file system provided in the device.

  • Publication number: 20090037433
Abstract: The server device includes an index file generating unit, and a transferring unit. The index file generating unit generates an index file with respect to a prescribed directory in a hypertext format. The prescribed directory is a part of the hierarchy structure. The index file includes a list of identification information that identifies a file or a first subdirectory in the prescribed directory, and location information navigating to the file or the first subdirectory. The transferring unit transfers the index file to the client device in response to the command received at the receiving unit instructing to transfer the index file, whereas the transferring unit transfers the file stored in the storing unit in response to the command received at the receiving unit instructing to transfer the file other than the index file.

  • Publication number: 20070288667
Abstract: An image displaying system includes: a removable media device and an image processor. The removable media device includes: a filename receiving unit; a reduced data determining unit; a reduced data generating unit; and a data transmitting unit. The filename receiving unit receives a filename of an image file stored on removable medium from the image processor. The reduced data determining unit determines whether an image file with the filename received by the filename receiving unit has reduced data in a prescribed region of the image file for displaying the image file at a reduced size when a prescribed reduced display command is attached to the filename. The reduced data generating unit generates reduced data based on the image file in order to display the image file at a reduced size when the reduced data determining unit determines that the reduced data is not included in the prescribed region of the image file.
