  • Patent number: 7573710
Abstract: A portable computer having a decorative cover is disclosed. The portable computer includes a main housing and a display side housing. The display side housing is openably and closably attached to the main housing. Several apertures for forced air cooling are formed in a bottom and a side of the main housing. The decorative cover is configured to cover surfaces of the display side housing and the main housing. A tray having a flat plate member and a spacer are attached to the bottom of the main housing. The spacer is configured to secure a predetermined space between the flat plate member and the bottom of the main housing to form an air flow passage for allowing outside air to pass through the apertures. The spacer is arranged between the decorative cover and the bottom of the main housing.

  • Publication number: 20080112130
Abstract: The present invention provides a portable computer in which an increase in temperature of a housing is suppressed. In the present invention, a guide plate is provided to suppress an increase in temperature of a bottom surface. When a cooling fan device operates, outside air taken in from inlet openings flows as an air current through a narrow flow path formed between the guide plate and the bottom surface. A flow velocity of the air current can be increased by narrowing the flow path, and heat exchange with the guide plate can be effectively performed, thereby sufficiently cooling a cooling surface. The cooled guide plate cools an air layer between the guide plate and the heat sink and thermally insulates between the air layer and the bottom surface.

  • Patent number: 6800840
Abstract: A portable information processor includes a computer main body and a digitizer connected by a flexible hinge defined in a cover. The hinge allows the computer main body and the digitizer to assume different superposed states by means of a flexible separable portion of the cover. In the superposed state of the computer main body and the digitizer, arbitrariness in folding back the separable portion causes runout between the computer main body and the digitizer. In spite of this runout, the superposed state can be accurately detected by means of an optical sensor, including an infrared radiator and an infrared-ray detector, disposed in the computer main body. A flexible reflection member is fixed to a predetermined surface of the separable portion of the leather cover, while assuring a predetermined area. If the computer main body and the digitizer assume a superposed state, light emitted from the infrared radiator is reflected by the flexible reflection member and is incident on the infrared-ray detector.

  • Patent number: 6646869
Abstract: A slope of an HDD door comes in contact with a slope formed on a lower wall. At this time, when screws of the HDD door are fastened, a fastening force is generated at the HDD door in a direction parallel to the plane direction of the PC housing. The HDD united with the HDD door moves slightly in a parallel direction in proportion to the fastening degree of the screws. At this time, the slope slides to go up on the slope, so the HDD moves slightly upward. When the screws are fastened fully up to the allowable torque, the HDD is firmly attached to the upper wall.

  • Publication number: 20030179543
Abstract: A deformable shock absorbing device for a computer apparatus or a precision apparatus is provided. An embodiment of the shock absorbing portion includes an outer disk, an inner substrate with a valve, and an elastic member therebetween, creating a cavity whose inflow or outflow is allowed by the valve. When the computer apparatus is moved away from a resting surface, the elastic membrane facilitates the inflation of the shock absorbing device with air or fluid and the device projects outwardly from the bottom surface of the computer. If the computer comes into sudden contact with the surface, the force of impact is absorbed by the shock absorbing device which deflates gradually. Thus, internal structures of the computer apparatus can be prevented from being damaged.
