  • Patent number: 5860457
Abstract: A gasoline vapor recovery system and method in which a flow metering unit is provided for measuring the flow of a mixture of air and gasoline vapor from a vehicle tank and for determining the density of the gasoline vapor in the mixture. A value is provided for varying the flow of the mixture from the tank, and a control unit is operatively connected to the flow metering unit and to the valve for adjusting the position of the valve, and therefore the flow of the mixture from the tank, in response to the density of the gasoline vapor in the mixture and the gasoline flow.

  • Patent number: 5832967
Abstract: A system and method for recovering a gasoline vapor/air mixture from a vehicle tank during the dispensing of gasoline from a storage tank into the vehicle tank in which the flow of the mixture from the vehicle tank to the storage tank is induced during the dispensing of the gasoline. The amount of oxygen in the mixture is sensed and the flow of the mixture is shut off when the oxygen content in the mixture attains a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5706871
Abstract: A fluid control apparatus and method in which a valve unit having a plurality of inlets is respectively connected to multiple fluid sources and an outlet. A unit containing a flowmeter is also provided which cooperates with the valve unit in a manner so that, upon rotation of one of the units relative to the other, the flow of fluid is controlled from the selected fluid source to the valve unit outlet. The flowmeter is adapted to measure variations in the flow rate of the fluid, and the flow of the fluid is controlled in response to one or more related parameters.

  • Patent number: 5671785
Abstract: A gasoline vapor recovery system and method in which a mixture of air and gasoline vapor is passed from a vehicle tank to a storage tank during the dispensing of gasoline from the storage tank to the vehicle tank. A portion of the mixture of air and gasoline vapor is vented from the storage tank, the flow and/or the vapor concentration of the vented mixture from the storage tank are determined, and the mixture flow from the vehicle tank is varied accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5129211
Abstract: A number of pack units (3; 3.sup.1), such as rolls of soft tissue paper or packs of nappies, etc., which are enclosed by a banderole-like pack sleeve (2). The invention enables a pack to be produced which is well suited to efficient manufacture and which is also suitable for simple and safe handling, both in the production channel and in the consumer channel. In the area outside pairs of pack units (3; 3.sup.1) situated adjacent to one another, said pack sleeve (2) is attached to a holding device (4) running in an essentially straight path between the pack units (3; 3.sup.1). The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of pack of this kind, and to an arrangement for the production of a pack of this kind.

  • Patent number: 4765416
Abstract: In a subterranean drilling operation, a drill stem and drill bit are advanced downwardly while conducting compressed air downwardly through the drill stem. A minor part of the air flow is discharged from the drill bit downwardly against the sensible overburden, and a major part of the air flow is discharged upwardly through passages in the drill stem. A casing is disposed around the drill stem and advanced therewith so that the sensible overburden is shielded from the air discharged from the upwardly directed passages. The upwardly directed passages contain removable inserts which can be exchanged for different inserts in order to vary the amount of air discharged from the upwardly directed passages, and thereby vary the amount of air discharged downwardly from the drill bit against the overburden. In that way, the amount of air acting against the overburden can be adapted to the type of material in the overburden in order to control the amount of disruption to the overburden.

  • Patent number: 4695414
Abstract: A method and apparatus for pressing powder material in which powder is dosed into a die (48) and with the aid of at least one press means (14) is compressed to a ready detail, pressing continuing until a desired final position of the press means or a desired press force has been achieved. The actual value for the position of the press means (14) is sensed when desired press force has been achieved, or the actual value for the press force is registered when the final position has been achieved. The registered actual value is compared with a predetermined criterion value and the pressed detail is accepted or rejected depending on the size of the deviation between actual and criterion values.

  • Patent number: 4180154
Abstract: Two pairs of spaced conveyor chains 18, 19 and 20, 21 are disposed one inside the other, and traverse identical rectangular runs between an infeed station 28 and an outfeed station 58. Each pair carries a respective serial array of pickup devices 22-23 and 33-41 arranged in two oppositely spaced groups for accommodating rolls of paper towels or the like. The conveyor chain pairs are independently driven by separate motors 6, 7 in such a manner that while one group of pickup devices is being intermittently stepped or indexed through the infeed station for loading, the other, previously loaded group is continuously advanced to the outfeed station for unloading and thereafter back to the vacated infeed station.

  • Patent number: 4118935
Abstract: A regulation system for a steam turbine installation comprising a steam generator and a multi-stage turbine installation incorporating a high-pressure stage. The regulation system comprises a regulation valve arranged between the steam generator and the high-pressure stage of the turbine installation and a by-pass valve connected in parallel with said high-pressure stage, as well as control devices with associated control circuits for said valves. The control device for the by-pass valve is influenced by the signal from the control circuit of the regulation valve such that when the opening of the regulation valve exceeds a predetermined magnitude the control device for the by-pass valve opens such by-pass valve to a predetermined magnitude. Further, the control circuit of the by-pass valve is connected in parallel with a differentiation element which influences the degree of opening of the by-pass valve as a function of variations in the signal received from the control circuit of the regulation valve.
