  • Patent number: 6066924
Abstract: A wax candle simulation device with random flicker electric circuitry, comprising at least two miniature light bulbs mechanically vertically closely arranged with the filaments therein arranged at an angle. The bulbs are contained within a flame shaped translucent housing and are connected to an electrical circuitry comprising two transistors, with one driving the other (inverter) with an external control and a switch between them set by resistor values. Additional resistors slow down light bulb shut down and the filaments are constantly pre-heated with a slow cool down, whereby the transition between the lighting of the light bulbs is very gradual. A single counter IC, creates the external driver circuitry with a portion of the IC providing a low stability oscillator and another portion operating as a counter with outputs connected to resistors. The other ends of the resistors are parallel and connected to the inverter.

  • Patent number: 6060986
Abstract: A manipulating protective glove structure for use with non-conductive, hazardous materials, or materials sensitive to contamination, in a sealed environment, e.g., glove box. The glove structure embodies components which provide monitoring and signaling to the user, of a breach, in the glove structure. The outer surface of the manipulating glove itself is made electrically conductive by conductivity treatment of by inserting the glove into a thin conductive glove member which is sized to tightly cover the outer surface of the manipulating glove. An isolated electrical wire is electrically mounted to a the conductive outer surface with prevention of ingreee of air (with possible contamination). An electrical monitoring device is electrically connected to the user's skin and to the outer conductive layer via the electrical wire.

  • Patent number: 6017139
Abstract: An electronic candle having a configuration to emulate that of a wax candle such as a wide cylinder votive candle. The electronic candle contains circuitry to cause emission of random light flickers when activated and a spring loaded two piece switch/timer element and candle housing to effect the activation for a predetermined period of time. Switching is adapted to be effected with position placement of the candle and relative movement between the switch timer element and the housing.

  • Patent number: 5923259
Abstract: An electrically powered integrity checking device for detection of breaches in protective garments under conditions of a potential for exposure to any one of bodily fluids and hazardous fluid materials. The device comprises a connector for electrically connecting a person wearing a protective garment to the device and a second connector to a fluid source. The device comprises a current source, an alarm, with constant monitoring of integrity of each connection during use of the device. A breach in the protective garment allows ingress of fluid through the breach, results in a completed circuit from the current source means, between the person wearing the protective garment and the fluid source, which triggers said alarm. The connector comprises a reusable spring loaded clamping structure which maintains pressure terminal contact with the person.

  • Patent number: 5863108
Abstract: Generally the present invention comprises a decorative holder for an electrically powered candle emulation device comprising an outer, substantially transparent/translucent hollow cylindrical member. The holder further comprises a second member comprising a flexible cylindrical segment of an etched plastic material with a longitudinal slit along its entire length. The outer circumference of the cylindrical segment is slightly larger than the inside circumference of the outer cylindrical member and is of a dimension whereby it can be radially compressed to fit into the outer cylindrical member into juxtaposition with the inner walls for the fixed positioning of the second member within the first member. The holder further comprises a third member comprising a transparent colored film of essentially the same outer dimensional area of the second member. The third film colored member is positioned between the first and second members in order to provide decorative coloring to the cylindrical holder.

  • Patent number: 5430434
Abstract: A portable early warning device for use in detection of breaches in protective garments such as gloves, during surgical procedures and the like. The device embodies a central process and source unit containing sensing wave generator, indicators, driving circuitry, digital analyzing and monitoring circuitry and a power source. The central process and source unit is separately directly connected to the object, e.g. skin of the patient, and to the device carrier, e.g. skin of the surgeon, via standard wires and EKG type terminal connectors. A conductive breach of protective garments such as surgical gloves with in vivo patient fluids, such as blood (of a possibly hazardous nature), completes a circuit and triggers a warning (either visible, audible, or mechanical) of the breach.

  • Patent number: 5225997
Abstract: A device for direct monitoring of a system with pre-scheduled, request or alarm reports being generated and sent to remote locations via facsimile transmission, with the reports being pre-formatted, as desired, such as in tabular or graphical form. The device interfaces with sensors which continuously directly monitor analog data such as temperature, pH, pressure values, or digital data such as limit switches, etc. of an operating system. Multiple process variable input channels or interfaces permit monitoring of different parameters. Each parameter can be reported in different page format. A conversion element within the device converts analog data from the operating system to digital form for immediate analysis and/or storage and later retrieval and/or analysis of operating conditions and parameters. Upon a pre-determined condition, a report condition is sensed and stored data is retrieved, by the device, into suitable combination with a pre-programmed page format such as tabular or graphical form.
