  • Publication number: 20210337817
Abstract: Compositions for forming protective coatings can include a first group of compounds, where each compound of the first group is a fatty acid, fatty acid ester, or fatty acid salt having a carbon chain length of at least 14 carbons. The compositions can optionally include a second group of compounds selected from fatty acids, fatty acid esters, fatty acid salts, and combinations thereof, wherein each compound of the second group has a carbon chain length from 7 to 13 carbons. At least some of the compounds of the first group can function as emulsifiers, allowing the composition to be dissolved, suspended, or dispersed in a solvent. At least some of the compounds of the second group can function as welling agents in order to improve the surface wetting of items to be coated when solutions, suspensions, or colloids that include the compositions are applied to the items.

  • Publication number: 20210298298
Abstract: Methods for improving the properties and productivity of plants are described. The methods include contacting the above-ground biomass of a plant with a composition that includes a monoglyceride. Applying the composition to the above-ground biomass can improve properties of the plant, including improved resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses, and can provide post-harvest benefits (e.g., extended shelf-life) to plant products (e.g., fruits or vegetables) that have not been harvested from the plant.

  • Publication number: 20210158398
Abstract: Techniques are described herein for intelligently identifying and creating user segments based on public data attributes in addition to user data attributes. In certain embodiments, a data analytics platform is disclosed that receives user data associated with users and public event streams from public data sources. The data analytics platform selects a set of public event categories associated with the public event streams to display in a segment builder application for generating user segments associated with the users. The data analytics platform outputs the set of public event categories and the user data associated with the users to enable a user of the segment builder application to generate the user segments based on the user data and the set of one or more public event categories.

  • Publication number: 20200383343
Abstract: Methods of forming a protective coating on a surface of one or more substrates. The methods include providing a mixture including a coating agent in a solvent, forming a fog from the mixture, allowing the fog to contact the outer surface of the one or more substrates so that a portion of the mixture accumulates on at least a portion of the surface of the one or more substrates. The solvent from the mixture is then at least partially removed from the surface of the one or more substrates, e.g., by evaporation or forced convection, causing a protective coating to be formed from the coating agent on at least a part of the surfaces of the one or more substrates. The protective coating can, for example, protect at least to some extent the substrates from biotic or abiotic stressors such as mass or moisture loss, oxidation, mold, fungi, or infestation.

  • Publication number: 20200245702
Abstract: A garment made includes at least a waist portion, a first leg portion, and a second leg portion. The waist portion further includes a pocket on the front of the garment, where the pocket is defined by at least the waist portion and a backing panel. The backing panel may be constructed from a resilient material and is reconfigurable between an empty configuration and an expanded configuration. When in the empty configuration, the backing panel may include a plurality of folded panels and may be aligned with the waist portion. When in the expanded configuration, the backing panel may be stretched to extend beyond the waist portion. The backing panel is reconfigured from the empty configuration and the expanded configuration when an object is disposed within the pocket. The pocket is sized and shaped to receive small personal items, such as smartphones, keys, money, credit cards, identification, etc.

  • Patent number: 10712163
Abstract: Data indicating current driving characteristics of a driver driving a vehicle can be received in real time. A driving profile for the driver can be determined based on the data. The driving profile can be categorized into a driving pattern category. A plurality of candidate travel routes for the driver to reach an intended destination can be identified and, for each of the candidate travel routes, a plurality of route segments can be identified. Based on the driving pattern category, a probability that the current driving characteristics of the driver will cause a traffic accident can be determined for each of the plurality of route segments. Route segments for which the probability that the current driving characteristics of the driver will cause the traffic accident exceeds a threshold value can be determined. A notification can be communicated to the driver or vehicle indicating such probability.
