  • Patent number: 9357357
Abstract: A computing device of a peer-to-peer group for a wireless communication protocol may determine that a peer-to-peer connection for the group transports an application flow sourced by a Group Owner to a client of the Group Owner. The computing devices of the group select the client that receives the application flow sourced by the Group Owner to be a new Group Owner for the group. As a consequence, the computing device of the group that receives the application flow is the new Group Owner and, as a result, the Group Owner for the group receives the application flow whereas prior to the selection of the new Group Owner the Group Owner transmitted the application flow.

  • Publication number: 20160127460
Abstract: A method is disclosed for discovering communication devices. The method includes broadcasting, with a first communication device, a message that can be detected by one-hop neighbors. The first communication device listens for data indicating that it has at least one two-hop neighbor, and constructs and stores a list of its one-hop and two-hop neighbors. In addition, the method may also include selecting a subset of the set of one-hop neighbors such that all of the two-hop neighbors of the first communication device can be reached by the first communication device through the subset of one-hop neighbors. Then the selected subset is stored on a list on the first communication device. Next, the first communication device broadcasts to one-hop neighbors in the selected subset, the data indicating that a one-hop neighbor is part of the selected subset. The method also allows the discovery of multi-hop neighbors by utilizing the selected subset.

  • Publication number: 20160119953
Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for contention resolution techniques for medium access using a spatial dimension, a frequency dimension, or a combination of the both. A wireless station may determine that an access timer associated with backoff operations has expired. The wireless station may identify a domain index associated with the frequency domain, the spatial domain, or a combination. The wireless station may access the wireless medium according to the identified domain index. The wireless station may, prior to sending other transmissions, transmit a trigger frame including information associated with the resources of the wireless medium that are reserved for communications. Other wireless stations may share the medium and use the free resources.

Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for performing asynchronous discovery among multiple peers in a wireless peer-to-peer (P2P) network. In an aspect of the disclosure, a peer selects a duty cycle C corresponding to a probability that the peer is in either a scanning state or an advertising state, rather than a sleeping state, wherein the duty cycle C is selected in accordance with a power consumption of the peer. The peer also selects a first probability Pt for being in the advertising state, and performs an asynchronous discovery protocol in accordance with the duty cycle C and the first probability Pt.
