  • Patent number: 8968259
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a resettable drive mechanism for use in a drug delivery device. The drug delivery device is having a distal direction and a proximal direction. The drive mechanism comprises a drive rack engaged with a drive gear, a piston rack engaged with a piston gear and coupling means for coupling the drive gear with the piston gear. In a first state of the drive mechanism, the drive gear and the piston gear are coupled and the piston rack moves in distal direction when the drive rack is moved in distal direction. In a second state of the drive mechanism, the drive gear and the piston gear are decoupled and the piston rack is moveable in proximal direction for resetting the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8939945
Abstract: A lead screw (5) with a screw thread (6) is arranged in a body (1) along an axis (4) and coupled to a lead screw nut (7) with a drive feature (8), so that the lead screw is helically rotatable in the lead screw nut. The lead screw and the lead screw nut are provided with stop features (9) interfering with a rotation of the lead screw in the lead screw nut when a force is applied to the lead screw in an axial direction. The lead screw nut has a surface area facing a guide feature (10) of the body. This surface area has a slope (12) varying around the axis. The assembly interacts such that the lead screw nut rotates in one rotational direction when a force is applied to the lead screw in the axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20140249480
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various examples of a medicated module that can be attached to a drug delivery device such that a user can administer a user settable dose of a first medicament and a fixed dose of a second medicament through a single dispense interface. In one example, the medicated module includes (i) an outer housing having a hub that holds a first needle, (ii) a bypass housing including a reservoir containing a second medicament, (iii) a lower hub including a second needle, (iv) a slidable needle guard including at least one disengagement member, where the needle guard is configured to activate the medicated module by forcing the bypass housing to disengage from the outer housing at a pre-defined amount of proximal displacement of the needle guard; and (v) a biasing member, where the biasing member is configured to place the second needle in fluid communication with the first and second medicaments automatically after activation of the medicated module.

  • Publication number: 20140094757
Abstract: A medicated module for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The medicated module is initially in a locked state until attached to a drug delivery where interaction of the cartridge holder with the module bypass housing changes the module to a triggerable state. The medicated module does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member automatically activates the reservoir when the needle guard is retracted when the module is in the triggerable state. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after removal from the injection site.

Abstract: A module assembly for an injection system that may co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The module assembly is initially in a locked state until attached to a drug delivery device where interaction of the cartridge holder with a locking strut changes the module to a triggering state. The module assembly when configured as a medicated module does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member automatically activates the reservoir when the needle guard is retracted when the module is in the triggering state. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after dose delivery.
