  • Patent number: 10783546
Abstract: The present invention claims and discloses a color and, or symbol coded display on a digital interactive badge for communicating a permission to approach and activate further digital content interaction. A non-verbal person to person ‘line of sight’ digital or electronic communication protocol standard (NVP) which allows one person to communicate with another using a direct line of sight signal from one interactive badge or screen to another. It allows the user to communicate and display their feelings, emotions, states of mind and consciousness, their like-mindedness with others, their social media activity, images, favorite brands, videos, purchased items and advertising all inside a new and comprehensive language NVP and in a visual way. NVP also allows the user to send invites to approach, talk, interact and to send digital information to their NVP capable interactive badge or screen or static receiver.

  • Patent number: 10720098
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a micro light-emitting-diode (mLED) cell that includes a mLED and a controller. The controller receives a brightness data signal and generates a driving signal corresponding to the brightness data signal. The controller is coupled to the mLED for providing the driving signal that turns on the mLED for first times and turns off the mLED for second times for a duration of a cycle. The driving signal causes a current density in mLED to be above a threshold value when the mLED is turned on.

  • Patent number: 10698158
Abstract: Ion implantation is carried out into a GaN layer of mLEDs to partially or fully convert one or more regions of the crystalline GaN layer to amorphous GaN. As a result, the GaN layer through which light rays propagate have non-uniform refractive indexes that modify propagation paths of some light rays. Ions can be implanted in a region around an active region that emits light to function as an optical waveguide. The ion implanted regions direct light rays that propagate along predetermined directions into predetermined propagation paths thereby to modify the angle of incidence of these light rays. As such, the light extraction efficiency of the mLEDs is increased.

  • Patent number: 10652166
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system is described, having a processor to receive a request for download of a high priority adaptive bitrate (ABR) content item which is available for download at a higher bit rate and a lower bit rate, and a request for a download of a low priority ABR content item, which is also available for download at a higher bit rate and a lower bit rate. A byte acquisition scheduler determines a required bandwidth to download the high priority ABR content item without adapting to the lower bit rate, and determines a remaining bandwidth to download the low priority ABR content item. A download interface interfaces with an ABR server, downloads the high priority ABR content item and the low priority ABR content item, and allocates at least the required bandwidth and up to the remaining bandwidth. Related systems, apparatuses and methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 10644197
Abstract: There is herein described a process for providing improved device performance and fabrication techniques for semiconductors. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for forming features, such as pixels, on GaN semiconductors using a p-GaN modification and annealing process. The process also relates to a plasma and thermal anneal process which results in a p-GaN modified layer where the annealing simultaneously enables the formation of conductive p-GaN and modified p-GaN regions that behave in an n-like manner and block vertical current flow. The process also extends to Resonant-Cavity Light Emitting Diodes (RCLEDs), pixels with a variety of sizes and electrically insulating planar layer for electrical tracks and bond pads.

  • Patent number: 10540755
Abstract: A method of capturing writing or drawing on a whiteboard comprises inputting camera data for a succession of image frames of the whiteboard, and processing data from said image frames to remove parts of the image frames corresponding to parts of a user or user pen writing or drawing on the whiteboard. The processing involves filtering to distinguish between i) motion of the user/user pen parts in the image frames, and ii) writing/drawing image information in the image frames which appears or changes during said writing or drawing but which is thereafter substantially unchanging. The filtered data defines captured writing or drawing from the whiteboard.

  • Patent number: 10498452
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) device includes micro LEDs and one or more macro LEDs formed on the same semiconductor substrate. Each micro LED emits modulated light to perform communication with another device. Each macro LED emits light to illuminate an environment surrounding the LED device and the size of the macro LED is relatively larger than the micro LED. The LED device may further include a notch filter to filter light generated by the macro LEDs so that the light from the macro LEDs do not interfere with communication performed by the micro LEDs.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method, system, and apparatus is described in which data is stored in a memory to be used by a processor. The processor performs the steps of allocating initial available bandwidth for adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming over an ABR streaming network among a set of channels available to be streamed, optimizing at least one profile for at least one channel of the set of channels after the initial available bandwidth has been allocated, the optimizing being performed on the basis of a video quality metric, a viewing metric, and at least one of: a central processing unit (CPU) constraint, and a bandwidth constraint. The allocating and optimizing is repeated upon one of adding at least one channel to the set of channels, deleting at least one channel from the set of channels, changing available CPU capacity, and changing available bandwidth. Related methods, systems, and apparatus is also described.
