  • Publication number: 20160310689
Abstract: A circuit connector for a humidification system, the system comprising a base unit configured to be engaged by a humidification chamber. The circuit connector comprises an inlet to fluidly connect to an outlet of the humidification chamber to receive humidified gases therefrom, an outlet to sealably connect to or integral with a conduit for directing the humidified gases to a user, and an electrical terminal for electrically coupling the circuit connector to an electrical terminal associated with the base unit. The circuit connector may be releasably and lockably connectable to the outlet of the humidification chamber and/or orientation features may control orientation of component parts of the system as they are assembled.

  • Patent number: 9478932
Abstract: A tunable reference cavity (3) with two independently controllable mirrors (15, 16) is disclosed. The mirrors are mounted on respective piezoelectric crystals (18, 19) so that thermal expansion of the piezoelectric crystals moves the cavity mirrors in the same direction along a longitudinal axis of the reference cavity thereby reducing a change of the cavity length. Also disclosed is a system for locking and scanning the output of a laser cavity (2). An error signal is generated between an output of the laser cavity (28) and the transmission (28) of the laser through the external reference cavity (3). A dual piezo-actuated mirror (6b) permits processing of the error signal (26) with separate signal processing circuits (29a, 29b) used to provide an electrical feedback signal to the dual piezoelectric crystal (22, 23b).

  • Publication number: 20160246899
Abstract: Disclosed is a parametric feature-based 3D CAD system that allows multiple users to simultaneously edit a parametric feature-based 3D CAD model consisting of 3D parts and assemblies of those parts (3D Model). Several CAD users, each using their own computer, phone, or tablet, can edit the same 3D Model at the same time. Editing may be separate and simultaneous—there is no need for users to worry about locking, checking out, or otherwise restricting each other's access to 3D Models. As a result, users see each other's changes occur in real-time, and may also identify what aspects other users are actively modifying through visible Collaboration Cues.

  • Publication number: 20160118771
Abstract: The present invention describes a method and apparatus for mounting a semiconductor disc laser (SDL). In particular there is described a cooling apparatus assembly (12) for mounting the semiconductor disc laser (1) the cooling apparatus assembly comprising a crystalline heat spreader (8) made of diamond, sapphire or SiC and optically contacted to the SDL (1). The apparatus further comprises a heatsink (13) made of copper and a recess (16) located on a first surface (15) of the heatsink. A pliable filler material (17) which may be In or an In alloy is provided within the recess (16) such that when a sealing plate (19) is fastened to the heatsink the SDL (1) is hermetically sealed within the recess. Hermetically sealing the SDL within the recess is found to significantly increase the lifetime of the device comprising the SDL. The heat sink (13) may be water cooled with pipes (14) delivering the water. In case the sealing plate (19) is made from for example Invar, it has an aperture (20).

  • Publication number: 20160070083
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mounting optical components is described. The apparatus (1) is suitable for mounting multiple optical components (2) and comprises a baseplate (3) having opposing first (4) and second (5) surfaces. Recesses or apertures (7) are formed within the baseplate and are located upon the first or second surfaces so as to define thermally activated optic mounting areas. Pillars (13) are then located within the thermally activated optic mounting areas and these provide a means for attaching the optical component to the baseplate (3). The employment of the recesses or apertures act to significantly reduce the thermal conduction throughout the baseplate. As a result preferential heating can be provided to the one or more thermally activated optic mounting areas while maintaining the baseplate with a desired mechanical strength. The optical mounting apparatus exhibits a high thermal stability thus making the apparatus ideally suited for use within commercial optical system.

  • Patent number: 8475462
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for segmenting a bone. The bone is segmented in two cuts i.e. an initial cut and a final cut. While segmenting the bone, the device is clamped to the bone directly or with the help of a block attached to the bone. An initial cut is taken after the clamping is performed. An upper part of the device is then moved to a predetermined length and the final cut is taken. Thus, the device enables an accurate length of cut to be taken while segmenting the bone. The device also enables varied length of cuts to be taken while segmenting the bone.
