  • Publication number: 20190169561
Abstract: The bioreactor may include a single-use, rigid-sided bioreactor vessel containing a fluid to be mixed and a vertical mixing wheel. A perfusion dip tube with a screen filter incorporated on the end is secured to the vessel from the top lid and partially submerged in the fluid, preferably into close proximity with an outer circumference of the vertical mixing wheel. The screen filter of appropriate mesh size allows spent cell culture medium to be withdrawn from the bioreactor vessel while retaining cell aggregates or microcarriers on which cells are attached and growing in the vessel. Alternating flow of fluid out from and into the dip tube enables removal of spent medium and unclogging of the dip tube filter.

  • Patent number: 10114188
Abstract: A novel panel-mountable fiber optic cable feedthrough is described that has two main body parts that can be brought together around single or multiple fiber optic cables and secured in place to prevent slippage of the cable(s). Use of two such main body parts that split along a plane that passes through the axis of the fiber optic cable(s) allows joining the two main parts at any position along the cable(s) without the need to thread the cable(s) through one or more pre-formed cylindrical cavities in the body of the feedthrough. The main parts for this fiber optic feedthrough can be made by plastic injection molding suitably shaped to relieve bending strain in the glass optical fiber(s) within the cable(s). The foot-print for mounting such a feedthrough can be made compatible with that of a number of popular fiber optic connector mounts, including the SC-connector.

  • Publication number: 20180299425
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an apparatus for segregating particles on the basis of their ability to flow through a stepped passageway. At least some of the particles are accommodated in a passage bounded by a first step, but at least some of the particles are unable to pass through a narrower passage bounded by a second step, resulting in segregation of the particles. The apparatus and methods described herein can be used to segregate particles of a wide variety of types. By way of example, they can be used to segregate fetal-like cells from a maternal blood sample such as maternal arterial blood.
