Abstract: A test and measurement instrument including a plurality of input ports; an acquisition system coupled to the input ports and configured to acquire frequency domain data from the input ports; a user interface configured to present frequency domain controls for at least two of the input ports; and a controller configured to adjust frequency domain acquisition parameters of the acquisition system in response to the frequency domain controls such that frequency domain acquisition parameters associated with a first input port can be different from frequency domain acquisition parameters associated with a second input port.

Abstract: A method of automatically grouping channels for display uses a pair of multipurpose knobs, one assigned for selection and the other assigned for movement. A channel or a grouping of channels that forms a “virtual group” may be selected from a menu or from a display by the selection knob. The selected channel or virtual group may then be moved to another position on the display by the movement knob. If the movement of the selected channel or virtual group is stopped in proximity to another channel or virtual group, a new virtual group automatically is formed. If movement of the selected channel or virtual group is stopped between proximate channels or within another virtual group, the selected channel or virtual group is inserted automatically between the proximate channels or within the other virtual group to form a new virtual group.

Abstract: A user interface for an oscilloscope, or the like, simultaneously displays data in a plurality of selectable formats, such as hexadecimal or binary, and allows a user to edit the data in a selected one of the formats. The data is input by an operator of the oscilloscope and used to trigger the oscilloscope or is used as a search term for searching a received oscilloscope data record for an occurrence of that data. The content of the operator-entered data may be text or numeric data or it may be representative of a memory address. The individual digits of the data or whole blocks of data may be selected for entry or editing.
