    Abstract: A scheme for synchronizing message folders between a messaging system and a mobile communication device. An embodiment comprises one or more of the following: upon establishment of a communication link between the messaging system and the mobile communication device, retrieving and tagging a source folder structure from a data store associated with the messaging system and updating a target folder structure on the mobile communication device based on the source folder structure. Thereafter, messages stored on the messaging system and the mobile communication device are compared to find matches that are moved within the respective folder structures based on a move flag status scheme.
