  • Publication number: 20050256805
Abstract: A license enforcement system is disclosed herein. The system receives digitized licenses associated with computer applications in a secure license store. The licenses are then monitored and compared with the actual use by users to determine compliance with licenses. If users employ an application in violation of licensing terms then corrective action can be taken such as providing warnings and/or shutting down or denying access to a licensed application. Additional security features are employed to ensure that license store data is valid and that the system is constantly monitored except where a bypass component is properly utilized. Furthermore, a user can utilize a plurality of different wizards such as an add license wizard, a backup license wizard and a restore license wizard, to facilitate easy step-by-step interaction with the license system.

  • Publication number: 20050253365
Abstract: An air bag deployment door mechanism for the instrument panel of an automotive vehicle. A deployment door is molded integral with the instrument panel retainer and defined by a plurality of closely spaced holes about its perimeter. The spacing between the holes define the physical connection between the deployment door and the instrument panel retainer. A tear initiator is molded into the deployment door which is activated by the inflating air bag. The tear initiator pierces the foam and decorative layers prior the severing of the physical connection between the deployment door and the instrument panel retainer.

  • Publication number: 20050253165
Abstract: An adaptive gate drive for an inverter includes control circuitry having a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and includes power circuitry having a plurality of FETs for operating a switching device, such as a Trench Gate Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT device). The control circuitry provides switching signals for operating the switching device. In addition, the control circuitry receives signals of output current of the IGBT device, temperature of the IGBT device, and DC link voltage. The FPGA has a plurality of operating points stored therein. Each operating point has corresponding parameters for a control signal that is used to control the turn-on or turn-off behavior of the IGBT device. During operation, the control circuitry compares the measured current, voltage and temperature operating points stored in the FPGA and sends the corresponding parameters to the gate drive circuit.

  • Publication number: 20050257253
Abstract: In a method of issuing a credential, a request for issuance of the credential is received. Next, a unique identification for the requested credential is assigned and data elements corresponding to the credential are provided. A credential production data collection is built in accordance with a credential production template. The credential production data collection includes the unique identification and production job data. • Publication number: 20050253718
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for locating, identifying and provisioning devices in a network. According to some implementations of the invention, a combination of EPC code information and existing networking standards form the basis of identifying and provisioning methods. For example, location information included in a DHCPDISCOVER request can be used to determine appropriate configurations for networked devices. In some such implementations, the location information is read from an RFID tag near the networked device and is inserted in the DHCPDISCOVER request. The location information may include any type of absolute or relative coordinate, positioning, cartographic or similar information and/or information from which such information may be derived.

  • Publication number: 20050254345
Abstract: A method, probe, and system for detecting presence of cavitation in a fluid and measuring cavitation density and intensity of a specific locale in the fluid. A first cavitation void and associated energy perturbation, produced in a first fluid, moves within the first fluid and is received at a very thin plate, which separates the first fluid from a second fluid and is part of a light-proof chamber containing the second fluid. An energy perturbation in the first fluid is received at the thin plate and produces at least one cavitation void or associated energy perturbation in the second fluid; and the energy perturbation in the second fluid is eventually converted into an electromagnetic signal. This signal is received by a photomultiplier and converted to an electronic signal that indicates the presence of cavitation. The system can distinguish between cavitation voids produced at one location and/or time interval and voids produced at another location and/or another time interval.

  • Publication number: 20050255380
Abstract: A hermetic seal that is compatible with lithium-ion electrolyte in lithium batteries is formed in feedthroughs by compression, chemical bonding, and mechanical bonding between the metal pin and a sealing glass, such as Cabal-12. The pin is alternately coated with a metal or a metal oxide to enhance compatibility with the lithium battery environment. The pin surface is deformed to enhance bonding with the glass seal. Mechanical bonds are also achieved by placing the pin/glass seal interface in compression by a compression bushing.

  • Publication number: 20050255704
Abstract: A method of fabricating a stacked dielectric layer for suppressing electrostatic charge buildup. First, a substrate having metal layers thereon is provided, with a plurality of gaps formed therebetween. Next, a dielectric layer is formed by simultaneous deposition and ion-bombardment, such that the dielectric layer covers the bottom dielectric liner and fills the gaps. Finally, a top dielectric liner is formed on the dielectric layer by deposition without ion-bombardment. Furthermore, the present invention provides another method to fabricate a stacked dielectric layer by performing a plasma treatment on the dielectric layer to suppress electrostatic charge buildup. As a result, the above-mentioned methods can efficiently avoid metal extrusion issues.
