  • Publication number: 20190219785
Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a cable sealing structure comprising a cable sealing body including a gel and methods of making anisotropic behavior in cable sealing structures made with a dry silicone gel. In one aspect, various three-dimensional printing techniques are used to make a cable sealing structure that includes a gel. The cable sealing body has a construction that elastically deforms to apply an elastic spring load to the gel. The cable sealing body has a construction with anisotropic deformation characteristics that allows the cable sealing body to be less deformable in one direction than in others. The cable sealing structure can be utilized to seal fiber optic cables more uniformly while limiting the potential of leakage.

  • Patent number: 10265813
Abstract: A method of joining a plurality of parts to form a unitary body. At least two sintered parts are provided. At least one of the sintered parts has at least one internal channel. Each of the parts is formed of a hard metal composition of material. The at least two sintered parts are assembled into the shape of a unitary body. Each of the at least two sintered parts has a joining surface and when each joining surface is brought into contact the surfaces form a bonding interface therebetween. The assembled parts are subjected to a vacuum or gas atmosphere, without the application of external pressure, and to a temperature sufficient to fuse the at least two sintered parts together at the bonding interface to form the unitary body.

  • Patent number: 10233735
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a linear motor (e.g., for an ESP), where the motor's mover moves in a reciprocating motion within a bore of the stator. Hard stops are located at the ends of the bore. The motor has a first set of sensors in the stator positioned proximate to the bore. When the mover moves in the bore, the sensors produce corresponding output signals, except when the mover is in a position near, but not in contact with a hard stop. While the sensors produce output signals, the motor is driven in a first direction toward the hard stop. When the sensors stop producing the output signals, the mover has reached the first position, and the motor is controlled to reverse the direction of the mover.

  • Publication number: 20190040863
Abstract: A combined pump and motor has a stator mounted for non-rotation in a housing. The stator has windings that create an electromagnetic field in the stator cavity when powered. An upper diffuser and a lower diffuser are mounted for non-rotation in the stator cavity. Annular clearances exist between the upper diffuser and the inner diameter of the stator and between the lower diffuser and the inner diameter of the stator. An impeller between the lower diffuser and the upper diffuser has an array of magnets circumferentially mounted around the impeller that impart rotation to the impeller in response to the electromagnetic field in the stator cavity. The array of magnets has at least one end portion extending into one of the upper and lower diffuser annular clearances.

  • Patent number: 9970266
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for improved drilling operations through the use of real-time drilling data to predict bit wear, lithology, pore pressure, a rotating friction coefficient, permeability, and cost in real-time and to adjust drilling parameters in real-time based on the predictions. The real-time lithology prediction is made by processing the real-time drilling data through a multilayer neural network. The real-time bit wear prediction is made by using the real-time drilling data to predict a bit efficiency factor and to detect changes in the bit efficiency factor over time. These predictions may be used to adjust drilling parameters in the drilling operation in real-time, subject to override by the operator. The methods and systems may also include determining various downhole hydraulics parameters and a rotary friction factor. Historical data may be used in combination with real-time data to provide expert system assistance and to identify safety concerns.

  • Publication number: 20180121447
Abstract: A service system provides users with access to online services. As part of providing the services to users, the service system stores data for users in a data storage system. When the service system receives a request from an administrator of the system for user data stored in the data storage system, the service system identifies the data requested by the administrator. The service system also determines policies that apply to the data. The determined policies indicate transformations that are to be performed on the data to protect the privacy of the users. The service system transforms the user data as indicated by the policies and provides the transformed user data to the administrator.

  • Publication number: 20180088285
Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a cleaning substrate with liquid-filled microcapsules embedded therein. The cleaning substrate may include cleaning swabs, tapes, or textiles that can be used to provide enhanced cleaning of optical fiber end faces. Cleaning is achieved by bringing the liquid-filled microcapsules into contact with a surface of application, such as an end face of an optical fiber connector. When the cleaning substrate is rubbed in contact with the surface of application, liquid burst from the liquid-filled microcapsules of the cleaning substrate to remove foreign matter or contamination, such as oil and dust, from the surface of application.

  • Patent number: 9930816
Abstract: A modular electromagnetically shielded enclosure is provided. The enclosure includes connective frame elements that make up a support frame assembly. Conductive fabric panels are fastened to the connective frame elements to form walls and ceiling. A modular electromagnetically shielded floor assembly is made up of floor panels with rabbet edges that form channels for the placement of electromagnetic shielding gaskets and floor panel connectors. The conductive fabric panels that make up the walls of the enclosure are fastened to the modular electromagnetically shielded floor assembly to form a faraday cage environment that can be readily assembled to create a large or very large shielded enclosure and that can be reconfigured with continued radiofrequency shielding effectiveness.

  • Publication number: 20180052455
Abstract: A communication system includes a first communication device disposed onboard a displaced vehicle. The first communication device communicates with a second communication device onboard a lead vehicle of a vehicle system for the lead vehicle to remotely control operation of the vehicle system. The first communication device receives a reconfiguration signal from the second communication device. A remote control (RC) communication device is disposed onboard the first displaced vehicle. The RC communication device wirelessly receives a control signal from an operator control unit (OCU) for the OCU to remotely control the first displaced vehicle. A communication controller reconfigure the RC communication device to repeat the control signal from the OCU responsive to the first communication device of the first displaced vehicle receiving the reconfiguration signal from the second communication device of the lead vehicle or another reconfiguration signal from an off-board or on-board location.
