  • Patent number: 8419612
Abstract: A method treating erectile dysfunction includes implanting a penile implant including a first bladder and a second bladder, the second bladder filled with a liquid having a rest viscosity. The method additionally includes increasing a pressure in the first bladder of the penile implant from a first pressure to a second pressure, and increasing a viscosity in the liquid from the rest viscosity to a second viscosity greater than the rest viscosity. The method further includes maintaining the first bladder of the penile implant at the second pressure and the liquid in the second bladder at the second viscosity.

  • Patent number: 8343033
Abstract: A penile prosthetic includes a proximal tip in communication with a reservoir, a cylinder bladder connected at a proximal end to the proximal tip and extending to a distal end, and peristaltic tubing disposed inside the cylinder bladder. The peristaltic tubing has a proximal end that communicates with the reservoir and a distal end that is open to the cylinder bladder. Peristaltic compression applied from the proximal end to the distal end of the peristaltic tubing pumps fluid from the reservoir into the cylinder bladder.

  • Publication number: 20120323261
Abstract: A suturing assembly includes shaft attached between a handle and a head. The handle includes a brace and an actuator attached to the handle, where the actuator has a neutral position that is distal the brace. The shaft defines a longitudinal axis of the assembly. The head includes a proximal portion housing a needle that is movable through a needle exit port, and a distal end spaced apart from the proximal portion by a throat. The distal end is radially offset from the longitudinal axis and defines a cavity. Movement of the actuator from the neutral position to the brace moves the needle both in a first direction out of the needle exit port into the cavity and in a second direction out of the cavity and into the needle exit port.

  • Patent number: 8147400
Abstract: A body implantable penile prosthetic assembly includes a penile implant and a reservoir. The penile implant includes a first bladder and a second bladder, where the second bladder contains a dilatant liquid. The reservoir is connectable with the first bladder of the penile implant. In this regard, fluid transferred from the reservoir into the first bladder of the penile implant imposes a shear on the dilatant liquid in the second bladder of the penile implant to increase viscosity in the dilatant liquid and harden the penile implant.

  • Publication number: 20120016187
Abstract: A method of treating erectile dysfunction includes providing a pump having a proximal tip communicating with a fluid reservoir, a bladder connected at a proximal end to the proximal tip and extending to a closed distal end, and a tube disposed in the bladder, the tube having a proximal end in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir and a distal end that opens into the bladder. The method additionally includes implanting the pump into a corpora cavernosum of a penis.
