  • Publication number: 20090182425
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sheet or tubular structure consisting of biocompatible material, which is elastic and comprises at least one biologically active substance in at least one region and to a sheet or tubular structure, which comprises at least one biologically active substance release-modifying agent in at least one region as well as an implant covered at least partially by the sheet or tubular structure of the invention. The present invention further provides a method and an apparatus for producing, and preferably customizing and/or optimizing, the sheet or tubular structure of the invention. The sheet or tubular structure of the invention can be customized/optimized before implantation in the operating room.

  • Publication number: 20080154265
Abstract: The invention refers to a component for arrangement at an implant as well as a method for the assembling of an implant arrangement. The component comprises a basic component, at least one sensor arranged in the basic component for the detection of a measurement variable and for the generation of measuring data for the detected measurement variable, a telemetry device arranged in the basic component for transmitting and receiving data and a data transmission connection between the at least one sensor device and the telemetry device for the transmission of data between the at least one sensor device and the telemetry device, whereby the data comprise the measuring data. At the basic component, assembly means for mounting the basic component in an implant recess are formed.

  • Publication number: 20060287612
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for simulating musculoskeletal strains on a patient. Individual musculoskeletal parameters of the patient are determined first, particularly by automatically measuring anthropometric parameters and/or the position and/or alignment of joints, especially also gait-related data such that individual musculoskeletal strains are automatically determined from the determined musculoskeletal parameters of the patient. The individual musculoskeletal strains thus determined are evaluated in a computer-assisted manner regarding at least one target criterion, particularly the contact forces or the degree of motion of a joint or the fragment movements of a fracture.

  • Patent number: 6783503
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for the contact-free determination of the mechanical rigidity of hard, as well as soft biological materials (e.g. articular cartilage) in body cavities (e.g. arthroscopically), using a defined jet of liquid. The distance between the measurement device and the measurement surface (e.g. articulation surface) is continuously measured in a predetermined measurement zone by means of an optical method. The inventive solution is suited for measuring the mechanical rigidity of native cartilage, articular cartilage substitute, cartilage deficiency fillings or of other biological materials, and therefore for the user-independent and fast analysis of the quality of regenerated materials as compared to the native starting material.

  • Publication number: 20030149433
Abstract: The invention relates to an osteosynthesis implant (1) that preferably consists of a bioresorbable plastic material. The inventive implant receives the longitudinal fixation elements (10) to be anchored in the bone, especially in the form of wires, nails, pins or screws. The openings destined to receive the fixation elements (10) do not completely extend through the implant (1) like in conventional bone plates or intramedullary nails but are degenerated to indents (2) in the surface of the implant (1) so that they may serve as a guide for the fixation elements (10) to be guided through the implant (1). The inventive implant (1) allows insertion of the fixation elements (10) in the bone diverging angles and crossing one another, so that the fixation elements (10) extending intramedullarly or in the spongiosa are primarily prevented from migrating in a proximal or distal direction.
