    Abstract: Systems for processing a workpiece are disclosed herein. The systems may include: a laser cutting head configured to produce a laser beam spot pattern comprising a plurality of laser beam spots, where at least two laser beam spots of the plurality of laser beam spots being disposed within the laser beam spot pattern symmetrically from a centerline defined by a cutting path for processing the workpiece. Methods of processing a workpiece are disclosed herein. The methods may include emitting, by a laser cutting head, a laser beam spot pattern comprising at least two laser beam spots, each disposed within the laser beam spot pattern and symmetrically positioned away from a centerline of a processing path of the workpiece; and removing portions of the workpiece using the laser beam spot pattern along the cutting path of the workpiece.

The first reflector disposed in a housing's interior reflects the laser beam from a source to the second reflector, which then reflects the laser beam toward a process zone for a workpiece. The single lens element is disposed in the housing's interior between the reflectors. The lens element can be moved to adjust a focal position of the laser beam beyond the housing's outlet. To reduce contamination, one or more nozzles are configured to direct purge gas across one or more of the first reflector, the second reflector, and the lens element, while one or more collection areas disposed in the interior are configured to collect contamination directed from the purge gas.

    Abstract: A laser material processing head, such as a remote welding head, has an output with a protective optic configured to pass an emitted laser to a working area. The protective optic, such as a cover slide of the output, protects other optics inside the head and is a replaceable, spare part. To prevent at least some debris expelled from the working area from reaching the protective optic, a nozzle is mounted to the head adjacent to the protective optic. The nozzle has an inlet and an outlet for the gas. The outlet has a curvilinear profile configured to fan a cross-jet of the gas in the plane between the protective optic and the working area. The profile of the nozzle reduces the amount of gas needed to divert the debris from the protective optic.
