Publication number: 20130061026Abstract: A configurable mass data portioning for parallel processing is described herein. One or more operation attributes are selected to participate in parallelization criteria. The values of the selected operation attributes for a number of operations are submitted to a specified algorithm using to provide parallelization values corresponding to the operations. The parallelization values are applied to group the operations in comparable portions for parallel execution without conflicts.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 5, 2011Publication date: March 7, 2013Inventors: ARTUR KAUFMANN, GEORG LANG

Publication number: 20130046940Abstract: Data structures used to store data in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system may be configured and custom-generated in a configuration mode of the ERP system where a subset of selectable data fields may be selected to avoid allocating space and resources to unused data fields. The data structures may then be generated in the configuration mode to eliminate the unused data fields at runtime. This in turn saves space and resources that would otherwise be allocated but not used. In ERP systems substantial space and computing resources may be saved by only allocating space and resources to only those resources that a specific customer intends to use.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2011Publication date: February 21, 2013Applicant: SAP AGInventors: Artur Kaufmann, Georg Lang

Publication number: 20120136869Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a computer implemented method of processing information stored in a data structure. The method includes continuously generating individual records and storing the individual records in a database as a plurality of records. The method further includes selecting, according to a time period, a set of the plurality of records that qualify according to the time period. The method further includes moving the set to a table in the database, wherein the table excludes the plurality of records that are not in the set. In this manner, the records may be stored in a number of parallel tables, and this process may be managed at the application level instead of at the database level. Using parallel tables instead of a single large table may offer performance improvements, for example regarding deleting (or archiving) data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2010Publication date: May 31, 2012Applicant: SAP AGInventors: Artur Kaufmann, Tom Brauer, Sylvia Beate Stiefvater, Georg Lang, Beate Schwenk

Publication number: 20100288819Abstract: The invention relates to a method for connecting a cable to an electrical connection element (14), in particular a plug connector, cable shoe or similar, during which the connection elements (14) are transported successively by a transport unit (6, 7) to an ultrasonic welding device (8), each of the connection elements (14) is brought into contact with a cable end section in the ultrasonic welding device (8) and is then connected by ultrasonic welding. To increase the production speed of a cable provided with a connection element (14), it is suggested according to the invention that the next connection element (14) to be connected is transported by the transport unit (6, 7) to the ultrasonic welding device (8) during production of the ultrasonic welded connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2010Publication date: November 18, 2010Applicant: TELSONIC HOLDING AGInventors: Thomas Huenig, Peter Spenger, Georg Lang

Patent number: 7786051Abstract: A method of treating a formation penetrated by a wellbore to reduce fluid loss to the formation is carried out by providing a quantity of water-degradable particles formed from a solid polymeric acid precursor having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of greater than 4000. A slurry of the particles is formed with a carrier fluid, which may be an aqueous fluid. The slurry is introduced into the formation through the wellbore at a pressure below the fracture pressure of the treated formation. A treating fluid is subsequently introduced into the formation through the wellbore. The water-degradable particles degrade by contacting the particles with a free aqueous fluid introduced into the formation through the wellbore. The water-degradable particles may have a particle size of from about 0.25 mm or less. The slurry may contain from about 0.01 kg/L to about 0.15 kg/L of the water degradable particles.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2006Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: George Lange, Vibhas J. Patent number: 7251693Abstract: System and method for data quality management and control of heterogeneous data systems. In a preferred embodiment, the system functions as a resource management tool that simplifies the process of managing data systems. More specifically, the system provides connections to source data systems, allows users to view data structures and enables simple management and manipulation of data contained within possibly heterogeneous data systems. The system utilizes an advanced graphical user interface, which allows users to access and manage systems using a simple point and click methodology. The system uses portals, which are tools that collect, visualize, analyze and directly edit data sets associated with different data sources. In another aspect, the system keeps track of its operational status, allowing users to automatically reproduce in one logon session work done in the previous session, without the need to replicate previous data analysis.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2001Date of Patent: July 31, 2007Assignee: Direct Computer Resources, Inc.Inventors: Edward Larue Stull, George Lang, Robert John Lentz

Patent number: 7091701Abstract: A power supply is for an electrical load in the form of a Notebook computer. The power supply includes first terminals which extend from the computer for releasably electrically connecting with a first energy storage device in the form of a battery during a first interval. A second energy storage device, in the form a second battery, releasably electrically connects with terminals during a second interval spaced apart from the first interval. This allows power to be supplied to the load during those intervals. A capacitive energy storage device supplies power to the load during a third interval that spans the spacing between the first and the second intervals.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Energy Storage Systems PTY LTDInventors: Geoffrey Alan Turner, Sarkis Keshishian, George Lange Paul

Patent number: 6998822Abstract: A power supply (1) for a pulsed load (2) includes a first energy storage device in the form of a battery (3) which is in parallel with a second energy storage device in the form of a supercapacitor (4). Battery (3) and supercapacitor (4) are respectively modelled as: an ideal battery (7) in series with an internal resistance (8); and an ideal capacitor (9) in series with an equivalent series resistance (ESR) (10). Through use of a supercapacitor (4) having a low ESR with respect to the resistance (8), the power supply (1) facilitates continuity of supply to load (2). That is, during peak demand more of the load current will be supplied by supercapacitor (4) due to the lower ESR. Moreover, during times of lower load current demands the battery recharges the supercapacitor. This reduces the peak current needed to be provided by the battery and thereby improves battery longevity.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2004Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Assignee: Energy Storage Systems PTY LTDInventors: Geoffrey Alan Turner, George Lange Paul, Sarkis Keshishian, Peter John Mahon

Patent number: 6944010Abstract: A charge storage device (1) includes a sealed prismatic housing (2). Two opposed folded rectangular aluminium electrodes (3, 4) are disposed within housing (2) and connected to respective metal terminals (5, 6) for allowing external electrical connection to the electrodes. A porous, electronically insulating separator material, e.g. Soluporâ„¢, sheet separator (7) is disposed intermediate electrodes (3, 4) for maintaining those electrodes in a fixed spaced apart configuration. An electrolyte (not shown) is also disposed intermediate the electrodes. Collecting means in the form of a scavenging agent is grafted to separator (7) for sequestering one or more predetermined contaminants from the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2000Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Energy Storage Systems PTY Ltd.Inventors: George Lange Paul, Rory Albert James Pynenburg, Peter John Mahon, Sarkis Keshishian
