Abstract: Systems, methods, and media associated with a rack-mountable device are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes a display having a corner to diagonally opposite corner dimension of at least seventeen inches, a pointing apparatus having at least three buttons, a communication access port positioned on the front of the device, and an identification light positioned on the front of the device. In one example, the device will fold open and shut. In one example, the device will fit into a 1 U (1.75 inch) rack space when the device is folded shut and will have a QWERTY keyboard having a horizontal dimension of at least fourteen inches.

Abstract: An audio system for multimedia computer systems and method for use are provided including an audio module having speakers, a microphone and associated circuitry. The audio module is adapted to be interposed between a monitor and a monitor pedestal such that the audio module swivels and tilts in concert with the monitor. The circuitry is adapted to drive the audio module speakers and to drive only one speaker and the microphone in a speaker phone mode.

Abstract: A graphical display icon on the front of a data storage unit provides status information on disk drives within the unit. The icon has a shape identical to that of the unit and includes a number of bicolor LED's which each correspond to a similarly situated disk drive located in the unit. The color emitted by the LED's communicate information on the status of the corresponding disk drive within the unit.

Abstract: A tower unit for a personal computer wherein the tower unit is a generally rectangular box having a generally rectangular interior chassis. The interior chassis includes a first set of interiorly extending mounting flanges and tabs which are positioned and aligned on opposing chassis walls to mount one or more drives at an upwardly facing angle in order to allow the user visual and manual access to the drives for ease of operation. A similar combination of interiorly directed tabs and flanges are formed in the opposing side walls of the frame near the bottom of the tower unit chassis in order to mount a plurality of hard disk drives in horizontal positions. The frame includes a front frame panel which combines with the front bezel to provide a gripping area which cooperates with another gripping area formed in the rear bezel to allow the tower unit to be easily moved about.
