  • Publication number: 20100215364
Abstract: The optical multiplexer system comprises an optical multiplexer, an output path and an adjustable beam steering element. The optical multiplexer comprises an input port characterized by an original acceptance range. The output path is disposed relative to the optical multiplexer such that a light beam incident on the input port within the original acceptance range enters the output path. The adjustable beam steering element is located adjacent the input port and is adjustable such that a light beam incident on the beam steering element within an enhanced acceptance range enters the output path as an output beam. The enhanced acceptance range is at least angularly greater than the original acceptance range.

  • Publication number: 20100106160
Abstract: An embodiment of an injector for an intraocular lens includes an injector body having a longitudinal axis. The body includes a first housing configured to receive the lens and a second housing configured to move relative to the first housing in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The injector also includes a lens engagement surface configured to engage a first, but not a second, viewing element of the lens. The injector includes opposing lens compaction members configured to move from a first position in which the lens compaction surfaces are spaced from each other to a second position in which the lens compaction surfaces are closer to each other and in which a lens positioned therebetween is compacted. In response to relative longitudinal movement of the housings, the lens engagement surface displaces the first viewing element from the second viewing element in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and the opposing lens compaction surfaces move from the first position to the second position.

  • Publication number: 20100076449
Abstract: Disclosed is an injector which comprises an injector housing having a longitudinal axis and an injection probe disposed along the longitudinal axis. The injector further comprises an intraocular lens disposed in the housing. The intraocular lens comprises first and second interconnected viewing elements, and the optical axes of the first and second viewing elements are substantially aligned. The optical axes are substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The injector further comprises a lens carrier which engages one of the viewing elements. The viewing elements are moveable in response to longitudinal movement of the lens carrier relative to the injector housing. The longitudinal movement causes both (i) the optical axes to be displaced relative to each other and (ii) the viewing elements to be disposed substantially on the longitudinal axis of the injector housing.

  • Publication number: 20090247963
Abstract: A connector assembly for catheters having closed loop flow circuits, such as some balloon catheters and heat exchange catheters. The connector assembly comprises first and second connector bodies that may be connected and disconnected from one another. When the connector bodies are disconnected, a syringe or negative pressure source may be attached to withdraw residual fluid from the catheter's closed loop circuit and to deflate any expandable portion of the closed loop circuit (e.g., balloon or expandable heat exchanger). A one way flow valve prevents make up air or other fluid from entering the catheter while the negative pressure is being applied. Also disclosed are sterility barrier assemblies for all types of catheters.

  • Publication number: 20090234366
Abstract: An injector for inserting an intraocular lens into an eye includes a lumen. The lumen can include a terminal portion at a distal end and a proximal portion juxtaposed with the terminal portion. An injector plunger can be disposed within the lumen for generating a driving force on the intraocular lens. The injector can include a lens frictional force that has a first value when the lens is at a first location within the proximal portion and a second value when the lens is at a second location within the terminal portion. The first value can be smaller than the second value. In some embodiments, the lens frictional force increases abruptly from the first value to the second value as the lens approaches the distal end of the lumen.

  • Publication number: 20080151546
Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) ornamental light has an axis, multiple loop casings and multiple pairs of connectors. The loop casings are pervious to light and are mounted rotatably on each other in a concentric arrangement. Each loop casing has an outer edge, a cavity, multiple relief bumps and multiple lighting elements. The relief bumps are formed irregularly on the outer surface of the loop casing. The lighting elements are mounted in the cavity. Each pair of the connectors is mounted on two adjacent loop casings, rotatably connects the adjacent loop casings together. The connectors of each pair are located respectively at the tip ends of each of the adjacent loop casings. With the connectors, the loop casings may rotate to locate respectively at different angular positions according to the axis to perform various visual effects.
