  • Publication number: 20050182419
Abstract: Disclosed is an injector which comprises an injector housing having a longitudinal axis and an injection probe disposed along the longitudinal axis. The injector further comprises an intraocular lens disposed in the housing. The intraocular lens comprises first and second interconnected viewing elements, and the optical axes of the first and second viewing elements are substantially aligned. The optical axes are substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The injector further comprises a lens carrier which engages one of the viewing elements. The viewing elements are moveable in response to longitudinal movement of the lens carrier relative to the injector housing. The longitudinal movement causes both (i) the optical axes to be displaced relative to each other and (ii) the viewing elements to be disposed substantially on the longitudinal axis of the injector housing.

  • Publication number: 20050143798
Abstract: A connector assembly for catheters having closed loop flow circuits, such as some balloon catheters and heat exchange catheters. The connector assembly comprises first and second connector bodies that may be connected and disconnected from one another. When the connector bodies are disconnected, a syringe or negative pressure source may be attached to withdraw residual fluid from the catheter's closed loop circuit and to deflate any expandable portion of the closed loop circuit (e.g., balloon or expandable heat exchanger). A one way flow valve prevents make up air or other fluid from entering the catheter while the negative pressure is being applied. Also disclosed are sterility barrier assemblies for all types of catheters.

  • Publication number: 20050123931
Abstract: Devices and methods for performing an array assay are provided. Embodiments of the subject array assay devices include (1) a base, (2) a cover, and (3) a clamping member for holding the cover to the base, wherein when the cover is operatively held to the base about a structure that includes an array assembly spaced-apart from a backing element, the array assembly and the backing element are deflected to substantially the same curvature. Embodiments of the subject methods include contacting a sample with a backing element and placing the backing element supported sample in contact with an array assembly to form a structure that includes the backing element and array assembly. The structure is then held together using a subject array assay device and the array substrate and the backing element are deflected to substantially the same curvature.

  • Publication number: 20050098032
Abstract: Devices and methods for performing an array assay are provided. The subject array assay devices include a degassing zone that includes a gas permeable membrane. Embodiments include degassing microarray-backing elements that are used with an array assembly to provide an enclosed assay array chamber about at least one array of the array assembly. The degassing backing elements include: (1) a substrate having a surface comprising at least one gasket, and (2) a gas permeable membrane. Embodiments also include array assemblies that include a degassing zone, for example positioned on an array substrate. Embodiments of the subject methods include contacting an array with a sample under conditions sufficient to perform an array assay, wherein the contacting step further includes degassing the sample. Also provided are systems and kits for use in practicing the subject methods.

  • Publication number: 20050029468
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product for reading fluorescence signals from an array of chemical moieties (such as different sequence peptides or polynucleotides, for example different DNA sequences). In the method the spatial sequence of scanned locations need not be the same as the temporal sequence. For example, a later illuminated line may be spatially closer to an earlier illuminated line than is a temporally intervening illuminated line.

  • Publication number: 20050026299
Abstract: A set of chemical arrays held together by a common carrier with one or more arrays of the set having been previously exposed to a sample. In one embodiment the common carrier optionally includes an indication of locations along which the carrier should be separated so as to separate the set of chemical arrays into multiple sub-sets each with one or more arrays. A method of use may include separating the set of chemical arrays into multiple sub-sets each with one or more arrays.

  • Publication number: 20040143283
Abstract: An inflation adaptor is provided to move a wire within a hollow tubular body, the movement of the wire enabling actuation of an expandable member at the distal end of the hollow tubular body. The expandable member can be a balloon, filter or similar device. The adaptor generally includes a clamping mechanism which clamps the hollow tubular body and wire within the adaptor, and also includes a drive mechanism for moving the wire within the hollow tubular body. An actuator, such as a rotatable knob, is provided to operate both the clamping mechanism and the drive mechanism. The adaptor may also include a fluid delivery and expansion system within a housing when the expandable member is a balloon, wherein movement of the actuator delivers a predetermined amount to the balloon while still operating the clamping mechanism and the drive mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20030189122
Abstract: A storage frame for lighting strings includes two sides, two rods and a handle. The rods connect between the two sides to form a flat, compact spool on which a lighting string wind can be easily wound. The handle separately connects to either of the two sides so the user can conveniently hold the frame. Therefore the two sides, two rods and the handle can easily connect together to form a storage frame and can be disassembled for storage to the frame does not occupy much space.

  • Publication number: 20020133117
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a low profile catheter valve comprising a movable sealer portion positioned within the inflation lumen of a catheter. The sealer portion forms a fluid tight seal with the inflation lumen by firmly contacting the entire circumference of a section of the inflation lumen. The sealer portion may be positioned proximally of a side-access inflation port on the catheter, to establish an unrestricted fluid pathway between the inflation port and an inflatable balloon on the distal end of the catheter. As desired, the clinician may move the sealer portion to a position distal of the inflation port, thereby preventing any fluid from being introduced into or withdrawn from the balloon via the inflation port. Also disclosed herein is an inflation adaptor for moving the sealer portion within the catheter to establish or close the fluid pathway between the inflation port and the inflatable balloon.
